A video showing an emotional Marine saluting his son after he becomes a second lieutenant has racked up more than three million views on TikTok in the last few days.
Master Sgt. Michael Fisher posted “Rendering my son the 1st Salute!” video which shows him in full military dress uniform praising his son for his achievement.
“I’ve watched you grow and mature and become the man that you are today,” said Fisher. “You have always been respectful by saying, ‘Yes, sir, no sir; yes ma’am, no ma’am.’ A salute is a sign of respect. It is a privilege to render you your first salute.”
Fisher, who is standing about a foot away from his son, then salutes his son with his right hand. “It’s even a greater honor to say congratulations, sir, for your commission,” said Fisher, his voice cracking.
The son, who is wearing a green utility uniform, returns the salute.
