Video of Taser victim cuddling his dogs who were shot dead by police

Did Millions and Marshall deserve to die? New footage emerges of Taser victim cuddling his dogs who were shot dead by Met police – as second video appears to show the animals confronting another pet days before

  • Activist group Animal Rising to hold candlelit vigil outside Met HQ this evening

This is the moment a man, whose dogs would later be shot dead by police, cuddled his beloved pets on the Tube.

Armed officers gunned down the ‘out-of-control’ animals – named Millions and Marshall – in east London on Sunday amid reports they had mauled a woman moments earlier.

Louie Turnbull, 46, was also tasered and arrested and appeared in court earlier this week charged with being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control.

Footage has now emerged of Mr Turnbull sharing an affectionate moment with his dogs, while a second video appears to show the animals confronting another pet in the street days before.

More than 8,500 people ‘liked’ the clip of Mr Turnbull, sitting with the dogs on an Underground train, within 24 hours of it being posted on Instagram.

Footage has now emerged of Mr Turnbull sharing an intimate moment with his dogs, while a second video appears to show the animals confronting another pet in the street days before

The owner wraps his arm around one of the dogs, who are both sat next to him on the row of seats, before kissing the animal on the nose and gently rubbing the top of its head.

The clip prompted an outpouring of support on social media, with one user writing: ‘This breaks my heart.’

Another said: ‘Poor pups they had a home that loved them so much.’

Meanwhile, another video appears to show a female dog owner screaming as she picks up her pet and backs away from Mr Turnbull, who can be heard calling her a ‘lunatic’.

It comes after witnesses who saw the ‘attack’ on Sunday claimed the woman involved got caught up in their leads and was not seriously injured.

Paramedics were not called to the scene as the woman allegedly attacked did not need an ambulance and was not taken to hospital, police confirmed.

It has also cleared the officers involved in the incident of misconduct.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: ‘We are aware of the video being shared on social media showing part of an incident in Limehouse where two dogs were destroyed by police officers responding to a report of a woman being attacked.

‘Police were called just after 5pm on Sunday, May 7, to a woman being attacked by a dog in Commercial Road, E14.

‘Officers attended the location where the aggressive behaviour of two dogs was of considerable concern and posed a significant threat to them.

‘A man was arrested in connection with the incident for having a dog dangerously out of control and assault offences.

‘A taser was discharged by police. No person was taken to hospital.

‘Both dogs were destroyed by police at the scene. This is never an easy decision for any officer to take, but police have a duty to act where necessary before any further injury is caused.’

However, the last few days has seen a huge row, with the force accused of a ‘disproportionate’ use of force by some campaigners.

Activist group Animal Rising have organised a vigil outside the headquarters of the Met for tonight and said the force have proven ‘themselves to be a dangerous establishment time after time’.

A post from Animal Rising read: ‘We know this is wrong. Heartbreaking footage first uploaded to social media last night shows the Met Police shooting dead two distressed dogs who were on a lead and realistically did not represent any danger to the public nor the police.

‘@metpoliceuk prove themselves to be a dangerous establishment time after time,  enforcing unjust laws and overextending their powers. They exert oppression and brutal force on innocent people and animals alike.

‘The Police do not serve and protect us. They exist to control us, the people, and uphold dangerous systems to protect the state and the elite.

‘This has always been the case – but the mask is slipping. This is injustice.’

Turnbull, 46, appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control and that he had custody of a dog while disqualified from owning or keeping a dog.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear again at Snaresbrook Crown Court on June 6.
