A wanted man being hunted by police after a scuffle over a gun in the street was found dead after plunging from a quarry, an inquest heard.
Chef Grant Barker was named by police after a video showed him and an officer wrestling for the firearm before a shot rang out near a popular playcentre.
But the inquest heard Barker, 33, was found dead in a mountainside quarry before he was traced by police for questioning.
The hearing was told he suffered severe blunt force head injury ‘consistent with a fall from a height’ when his body was discovered.
Mountain rescuers helped recover his body from the old quarry on Holyhead mountain in Anglesey, North Wales, and a post-mortem examination was carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers.

Senior North West Wales coroner Katie Sutherland adjourned the Caernarfon on Barker, of Holyhead, for more investigations.
Ms Sutherland said Mr Barker died on April 22 – 12 days after the two men were captured on mobile phone shows them grapple-fighting with each other to try and get hold of the suspected firearm.
Police issued a photograph of wanted man Barker about the incident – and said the gun in still missing.
The scuffle was filmed by a passerby in Holyhead, Anglesey, just yards away from a playcentre at around 8.30am on Monday 10 April.

As one of them pulls the other out of the doorway they are fighting outside of, a loud bang can be heard.
Both men have a hold of the black right-angled object before one gets tussled onto the road in front, leaving the man still standing able to take it from the other’s hand.
North Wales Police have said no injuries were reported and three people have been arrested following the fight. They named Grant Barker as a man they wish to speak to.
A force spokesman said: ‘The family are being kept updated. Grant was last seen on the 10th April and was found 12 days later. We are trying to piece together his whereabouts after 10th April, to help his family understand his final movements.
