RESIDENTS have been left stunned and confused after a massive 15 metre pole appeared outside of their homes with no warning.
The colossal structure on Lymm Walk in Cheadle, Manchester, has also come as a surprise to Stockport council who are demanding answers from the company who erected it.
A notice stuck on the “monstrous” pole says it is in place for telecommunications firm IX Wireless.
They say they are “managing the 6G internet in towns in the north of England, providing gigabit internet at lower prices than providers such as Virgin and BT”.
But locals are fuming that they were not consulted – and are worried about the radiation the 6G mast may give off.
One local, Ryan Keighron, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: “I was away for a couple of days and came back – and as soon as I turned the corner I saw it.

The council had received requests from IX Wireless to build more poles on other roads nearby – but these with rejected because they would narrow the pavement too much.
In a letter to the company the council lays down the law – explaining that permission must be granted before any are erected.
It continues: “The council is aware of the recent installation of a metal mast on Malpas Close, which is understood to be 15 metres in height.
“For the avoidance of doubt this installation has not been assessed under this notification and the mast has been installed without prior notification to the council as the Local Planning Authority.
