What holidays to green list destinations Malta and Ibiza will look like now from no dancing in clubs to midnight curfews

FUN-STARVED Brits are finally allowed to jet off to sun-kissed holiday islands without needing to quarantine when they come back. 

But those gagging for a no-holds-barred party break are in for a shock as strict Covid rules in the top destinations include banning dancing and staying out beyond midnight.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed Malta, the Balearic Islands and Caribbean Islands were among the countries which will be added to the green list.

This will come into effect from Wednesday at 4am, meaning millions of people will be scrambling to book a week or two of escapist fun. 

But many of those holiday island spots favoured by Brits have imposed strict party-pooping rules, meaning you could be breaking the law on a night out.

Some of the isles have imposed midnight or 1am curfews and those once famous for all night bar and club opening will be turfing revellers out into the street by 2am at the latest. 

Worse still destinations famed for their clubbing have BANNED dancing — indoors and outside. 

Here we look at these Covid rules in the holiday islands which are being imposed by law. 

Balearic Islands – Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera

  • Bars and restaurants must shut at 2am indoors and outside
  • Capacity indoors is restricted to 50 per cent
  • Six people per table and up to 12 can share a terrace one
  • Only two can eat at the bar until midnight and must be 1.5 metres apart
  • Nightclubs while cocktail bars will also be allowed to open until 2am
  • Dancing banned
  • Beaches and bars on them shut at 10pm

Malta 

  • Nightclubs can open till midnight offering table service only
  • Six people per table
  • Alcohol can only be served through table service with food
  • Six per table at restaurants 
  • No more than six allowed together outside
  • Masks on beaches and at pools not illegal but still recommended

Madeira

  • Restaurants and bars must shut midnight
  • Mandatory curfew from 1am
  • Drinking only allowed when seated
  • Capacity up to two thirds
  • Interior with tables for 6 persons
  • Exterior with tables for 10 persons
  • Must wear masks and social distance

Barbados

  • Midnight curfew from Thursday to Sunday 
  • Face Masks are mandatory in all public spaces including outside
  • Restaurants are open but must close before curfew
  • Social distancing measures will be in place
  • Nightclubs currently closed
  • Beaches shut at 7pm
  • No medical exemption for wearing a mask


Bermuda

  • Gatherings are limited to 100 persons max.
  • Masks required indoors when not eating/drinking, or standing at a bar.
  • Those vaccinated are not required to wear a mask when indoors
  • Can go maskless when eating and drinking
  • Persons with medical vulnerabilities should continue to wear
