THE Tory party has been searching for a new leader, since Boris Johnson announced he would be stepping down as PM in July 2022.
On September 5, 2022, it was announced that Liz Truss had won the vote to become Conservative leader and the UK's new Prime Minister – and would soon be addressing the nation in her new role.
What time is Liz Truss' speech?
Liz Truss saw off the challenge of Rishi Sunak to become Britain's third female PM on September 5, 2022.
Truss will only officially become PM once her predecessor, Boris Johnson, informs the Queen of his resignation.
Johnson will travel to Balmoral on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, to inform Her Majesty that he is resigning.
The Queen will receive Johnson in Scotland, rather than travelling to London, as she has been advised not to travel due to ongoing mobility issues.
After this, Truss will join The Queen who will ask her to form a new government.
Truss will then return to London and is expected to make her speech outside Downing Street at 4pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
