Who is John Wayne Gacy's ex-wife Carole Hoff?

John Wayne Gacy was an American serial killer and sex offender who killed at least 33 young men and boys between 1972 and 1978.

Before he got caught, he was married to Carole Hoff, who was his second wife.

At the time, Hoff was a divorced woman with two daughters.

While Gacy has since become a household name, little information is available about Hoff's personal life, but she has been seen in the documentaries Very Scary People and John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise.

Why did John and Carole get divorced?

Shortly after tying the knot in 1972, Hoff found wallets apparently belonging to teenage boys in his car, according to The New York Times.

After she confronted him about the wallets, she told the media outlet that he exploded in rage.

“He would throw furniture,” she said. “He broke a lot of my furniture."

According to Oxygen, the two eventually parted ways in 1976 "on the grounds that he was seeing other women."

What happened to John Wayne Gacy?

Following his second divorce, Gacy continued on with his killing spree until December 22, 1978, when he confessed.

Two years later, he was then convicted of 33 sex-related murders and sentenced to death, according to History.

Despite being sentenced to death in 1980, he did not receive the lethal injection until 1994, after he exhausted all his appeals.

He died at the Stateville Penitentiary in Joliet, Illinois, on May 10, 1994.

Over the years, Gacy's story has been told several times and is now the subject of a new Netflix documentary series called, Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes.
