But on February 18, 1991, his life was tragically cut short when he encountered serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
What happened to Curtis Straughter?
On February 18, 1991, Curtis Straughter was waiting at a bus stop outside Marquette University, when he was approached by Jeffrey Dahmer.
At this time, unbeknown to Straughter, Dahmer had murdered nine boys and men and dismembered their bodies.

Straughter was allegedly lured to Dahmer’s apartment on the pretence of money in exchange for posing for photographs.
Once arriving at Dahmer's apartment, Straughter was drugged, restrained and murdered.
Dahmer then dismembered his body, while capturing each step on camera.
Once he had photographed his victims body, Dahmer kept the Polaroid pictures in his bedside table as a chilling memento.
Curtis Straughter was Jeffrey Dahmer's 10th victim.
Who were Jeffrey Dahmer's other victims?
Between 1978 and 1991 Dahmer committed 17 murders – all of his victims were young boys and men, ranging in age from 14 to 32.
Many of them were gay ethnic minorities.
The notorious serial killer would murder, dismember and take polaroid pictures of his victims.
Dahmer would also preserve some of his victims remains, which he kept in his apartment – both to cannibalise and keep as a souvenir.

Dahmer then went on to murder Steven Tuomi, James Doxtator, Richard Guerrero, Anthony Sears, Raymond Smith, Edward Smith, Ernest Miller, David Thomas, Errol Lindsey, Anthony Hughes, Konerak Sinthasomphone, Matthew Turner, Jeremiah Weinberger, Oliver Lacy, and Joseph Bradehoft.
