Who was Sarah Wellgreen and what happened to her?

EX-BOYFRIEND of missing mother Sarah Wellgreen was found guilty of her murder.

Wellgreen went missing in 2018 from her home in Kent and was never seen again.

Who was Sarah Wellgreen?

Sarah Wellgreen was a 46-year-old woman from New Ash Green, Kent.

She was reported missing October 11, 2018 after she disappeared from the home she shared with her ex-boyfriend Ben Lacomba, 39.

They shared the home in New Ash Green but she had secured a mortgage to buy him out.

Wellgreen worked as a beautician and had broken up with Lacomba but continued to live with him for the sake of their three children.

Her disappearance was immediately suspicious as she had no reason to disappear.

What happened to Sarah Wellgreen?

She was last seen on the night of October 9 near her home in New Ash Green, Kent, with the alarm raised on October 11.

Wellgreen has not been seen or heard from since disappearing from her home, it is believed she was murdered and buried in an unknown location.

She disappeared overnight between October 9 and 10 and the missing person report was put out three days later.

Cops began probing exactly what happened to Sarah in the 24 hours before she was officially reported missing.

Her car was left at her house and there have not been any transactions on her bank or credit cards, her phone was also gone.

Police searched woodland, a section of the River Thames and land near the Bluewater Shopping Centre as part of their search.

Lacomba was arrested after his behaviour caused suspicion in the police.

A documentary on 5Star called My Lover My Killer gave some insight into what gave Lacomba away.

He was acting irrationally such as leaving the search party to try and organise a kids party at the village hall and attempting to begin court hearings for the custody of his children.

Early on he was arrested on suspicion of murder and interviewed for a total of seven hours, which he sat through in silence and refused to answer any questions.

One major issue was that despite the house being covered in CCTV camera, which Lacomba controlled from his bedroom, the files were unusable and he said the system had not worked for a year.

However, CCTV from the neighbour's house caught him out as it showed the cameras were active until nearly midnight on October 9, they also showed the last time Sarah was seen.

She arrived home around 8pm on Ocotber 9 and entered her home, she would never been seen again.

The CCTV also captured Lacomba's car leaving at around two in the morning and not returning for two more hours, although Lacomba had told the police he had been in bed all night.

His car also revealed a clue as it had muddy tyres despite the fact it was normally clean, this lead the police to believe it had been driven off-road during the night.

On December 28, 2018 he was charged with Wellgreen's murder.

He was found guilty on October 28, 2019 at Woolwich Crown Court and sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Lacomba has never revealed where her remains are.

Did Sarah Wellgreen have any children?

Wellgreen had three children with Lacomba, which is why the pair lived together after they had split.

She also had two boys from a previous marriage.

Her sons, Jack and Lewis Burdett, tried to visit their siblings while searching for their mother but were not allowed.

Lacomba had taken the three children to his aunt's house and was trying to initiate custody proceedings.

The two sons spoke on the documentary, one has moved back to Kent to find her and has stayed there since.
