A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after "falling from a height".
Cops were called to a block of flats in Southend, Essex, to reports of concerns for a woman's welfare shortly after 6.30pm last night.
A woman in her 20s was found with serious injuries after plunging from a height in Bewley Court, police say.
She was dashed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
A 26-year-old man, from Southend, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
He remains in custody this morning.
Police taped off the area and are still at the scene today.
Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook, of Southend CID, who is leading the investigation, said: "The investigation is in its early phase.
"At this stage, we believe this to be a contained and isolated incident, with no risk or threat to the wider public.
“There will be a very visible policing presence in the area throughout today and indeed in the coming days as we investigate the circumstances which led to this woman sustaining very serious injuries.”
