A PENSIONER has tragically passed away after being hit by a car outside an Aldi supermarket.
The woman, in her 70s, was struck by a vehicle while visiting the Birmingham branch in Hal Green on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around noon amid reports of an incident at the Aldi supermarket.
Several shoppers frantically called 999, seeing two paramedic officers, two ambulances, a community first responder, a MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic respond.
They battled to save the woman's life before she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver was also assessed by medics but did not require hospital treatment.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said enquiries are currently ongoing.
They said in a statement: "We were called to a collision involving a car and pedestrian in Stratford Road, Hall Green, at around midday today.
"Sadly, a woman in her 70s was confirmed dead at the scene. Our enquiries are ongoing."
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "When ambulance crews arrived, they found a pedestrian, a woman, in a critical condition following a collision with a car.

"Sadly, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed deceased by ambulance staff at the scene a short time later.
"The driver of the car, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff but didn’t require hospital treatment and was discharged on scene."
An image from the scene shows the Aldi car park cordoned off while numerous police officers remained at the scene.
