A WOMAN was stabbed to death in her New York City apartment after being followed home by a man after a night out, police said.
The 35-year-old was reportedly murdered in her Chinatown apartment early on Sunday.
Police responded to the incident after a neighbor called 911 when they heard the victim screaming, the New York Post reported.
NYPD found the suspect inside the apartment when they arrived at the scene.
The man tried to flee through the fire escape before barricading himself in the apartment, according to police.
Police eventually broke the apartment's door down and found the man inside covered in blood.

They also found the victim in the bathroom tub “bleeding from multiple wounds to the body," as an NYPD spokesman told the Post. She was declared dead shortly after.
The man was arrested and taken to Bellevue Hospital.
According to reports, the victim had taken a taxi home and was unknowingly followed inside her apartment, where she was attacked.
The victim was an Asian female but there is nothing to suggest it was a hate crime, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and police have not yet found a weapon.
