John Farnham surprises fans with cameo at Celine Dion concert
Melbourne fans were dumbstruck by a double dose of power balladry, as John Farnham joined Celine Dion onstage at her gig at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday night for a cover of You're The Voice.
Dion, 50, who has made a habit of performing Farnham's 1986 Whispering Jack classic throughout the local leg of her tour, surprised onlookers by bringing out the 69-year-old singer to belt a few bars of his hit.
Fan footage of the magical moment shows both Dion and Farnham in thrust-y power stance as they duet on the anthem, while a requisite bag-piper stood front of stage for its hook.
"Come on Melbourne, let's do this together, let's rock this house!" Dion yelled at the crowd in her Quebecois lilt, before Farnham casually strolled onto the stage midway through its second verse.
Onstage, she told Farnham she'd been singing along to his videos for "more than 20 years", and called the moment a "dream come true for me".
"The charismatic person that you are, and the energy that you give, it's contagious – you are contagious," she told Farnham.
Farnham responded by praising Dion's voice.
"People actually come to hear you sing. You don't do somersaults, and you don't have any dancers – although I put my hand up," he joked.

Dion later reiterated her sentiments in a post on Instagram, saying "I still can't believe that I got to perform [the song] with the one-and-only John Farnham!"
"I will never forget this, the thrill of a lifetime. John, thank you for your incredible talent, you're amazing, I love you!" she wrote.
Wednesday was the last night of Dion's Australian tour, as she moves on to New Zealand this weekend.
