Beautician removes massive pile of dead skin from man's feet

As the old saying goes, look after your feet and they’ll look after you.

For those that work long hours on their feet, though, that’s not always an option. Similarly, if you have severely dry skin or an infection, you might not feel up to the upkeep of your feet.

Let this video be permission to take some time out and soak your feet, though, as you see how much dead skin might be stuck on your soles.

Beautician @minke328 shared a video this week working with a client to remove build-up from the bottoms of his feet.

Using a blade, she scrapes off a large amount of skin, with some in the comments comparing the remains to a large pile of parmesan cheese.

The pile that’s left appears to be almost the size of the man’s whole foot, leading some to suggest that he may have psoriasis or another skin condition that causes excess build-up.

Have you ever seen such soles?#health #pedicure

The walk-through of the pedicure has now been viewed over six million times, with almost 8,000 comments below.

Although many of those commenting joked that the remnants were ‘forbidden parmesan’ or frosted flakes, others questioned how the issue had been able to get so bad.

‘How do you wake up every day and think “yeah my feet are good” as it progressively gets worse,’ asked one.

Just remember, although it may look like a whole lot of dead skin, with a condition such palmoplantar keratoderma (which thickens the top layer of skin on hands and feet) it’s not uncommon.

Imagine how great this client’s feet feel now they’re free from the sore, cracked top layer of skin he once had.

Although – as one person pointed out – his shoes may now be a bit loose.

How to remove dead skin from your feet at home

Exfoliating socks

These peeling socks are put on dry and clean feet for around an hour. You won’t feel much at first, but over the next few days your feet should begin to peel.

It’s satisfying yet gross to watch as your feet are reborn like a snake. Just make sure to do it weeks before you know your feet will be out.

£8.99 at Boots.

Manual method

  • Soak feet in warm water for about 10 minutes to soften the skin.
  • Add a handful of Epsom Salts to the water if you want more of a pamper and to aid exfoliation.
  • Use a pumice stone or foot file (not a professional scraper as used by professionals and in the video) to gently rub at hard skin.
  • Afterwards, put on some lotion and moisturising socks if you have them to lock in moisture.
  • Repeat this regularly, avoiding cracked or painful skin.
