How to Watch Thor Bj\u00f6rnssons Debut Boxing Match

After months of intense training, even more intense hype videos, and dramatic physique updates, strongman-turned-boxer Hafthor Björnsson will finally take the ring to fulfill his commitment to a bout he made over a year ago. Once the man known as The Mountain retired from strongman competition, he focused all of his attention on prepping for this bout—and on Saturday, September 18 in Dubai, he’ll enter the ring.

The long-awaited fight won’t exactly go off as it was initially planned, however. Instead of settling his long-gestating score with fellow former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall, who was forced to withdraw after suffering a ruptured biceps injury during training, Björnsson will face armwrestling champion Devon Larratt. The Björnsson-Hall face-off is expected to be rescheduled for 2022, pending Hall’s recovery.

The bout between Björnsson and Laratt is slated to be a six-round fight, with each round going for three minutes. The two mega-sized combatants (the promoters are calling it a “Titan Weight” fight, as Björnsson is 6’9” and Larratt is 6’5″) sit atop a packed card filled with other notable names from outside the traditional fight world.

A matchup between CrossFit Games athletes Josh Bridges and Jacob Heppner lead into the main event. Further down the card, world record-breaking powerlifter Stefi Cohen will continue her nascent boxing career in her second pro fight.

How to Watch The Mountain’s Fight

The only way to watch the bout is to stream the Fight Night 3 event via Core Sports. The pay-per-view costs $9.99, and will be available live and on demand.

The event, which features nine fights in total, is scheduled to kick off at 11:20 a.m. EST on Saturday, September 18. Björnsson vs. Larratt has an estimated start time of 4 p.m. EST, but that might not remain the case depending on the undercard matches.

While the fight isn’t exactly the one fans marked on their calendars back in May 2020, Björnsson put in an admirable amount of work to drop over 100 pounds and transform into a lean, hulking puncher. The man even took up running. Regardless of the opponent, The Mountain will look to make the match a mega-sized event.
