When a skincare brand creates an anti-aging moisturizer so popular, it repeatedly sells out, you can't help but take notice. And when it has a fan club made up of Kim Kardashian, who's sworn by its Retinol Fusion PM Serum, and Margot Robbie, who keeps its Max Complexion Correction Pads on her while traveling, it gets bonus points.
And now, it looks like Peter Thomas Roth can add another celebrity to its list of fans: Taraji P. Henson. In her recent interview with The Strategist, the actress called out the Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches — which you can get on Amazon — as one of her essentials.
As for how she discovered the hydrating under-eye strips, Henson has her longtime makeup artist to thank. "Addicted," she told the New York magazine vertical. "I once got them in a gift bag, and then I took it back to my makeup artist on 'Empire' and was like, 'I need all of these.' And she was like, 'You know I've been putting those on you for the last six seasons.'"
But as with all good things, even skincare, moderation is best. Henson went on to say, "When I first started using them, I irritated my eyes because I was using them every day. That's how much I loved them. My eyes got real dry and flaky underneath, and then I read the fine print, and it said, 'Do not use every day.' And I was like, 'Oh, okay, got it.'"
The secret to the patches' power lies in its powerful trio of hydrating hyaluronic acid, soothing marshmallow root extract, and eye-opening caffeine to reduce puffiness. To get the most out of them, the brand suggests applying the patches onto clean, dry skin and allowing them to sink in for 15 minutes. Afterwards, gently pat their excess serum into your skin so it can continue to work its magic.
"I can literally see the difference: I can see the puffiness shrink in the morning," said Henson. "I've even put one on one eye — because I'm a Virgo and I'm crazy — and left the other eye without it, and I could see the difference right away."
Even though the Peter Thomas Roth gel patches just publicly got the celebrity stamp of approval, they've long been a favorite among Amazon's savvy skincare enthusiasts. "I'm 50 and noticed the skin under my eyes was dry and I had a lot of tiny wrinkles," one shopper shared. "I also have bad allergies so the dark circles are real… I used them this morning and cannot believe it! After leaving them on 15 minutes, the skin under my eyes was brighter and healthier looking, bye bye wrinkles! I wondered if it was one of those treatments that would only last an hour or so but when I looked again hours later it was the same." Below, shop the Taraji P. Henson-approved hydrating eye patches, and head to Amazon to check out more from Peter Thomas Roth.
