This Danessa Myricks Beauty Foundation Is "Glass Skin" in a Bottle

  • Danessa Myricks Beauty recently released its Yummy Skin Foundation.
  • Available in 26 shades, the product combines makeup with skin care.
  • One editor tested the foundation and was impressed with the results.

Danessa Myricks Beauty has been growing in popularity since launching in 2015 and is now carried in major retailers like Sephora. Fans of the brand have marveled at its innovations like the Chrome Flake Eye Toppers, which received rave reviews from makeup artists and editors alike, as has its most recent launch, the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Serum Foundation ($34). The latter was met with immediate fanfare, with some of the videos reviewing the foundation garnering more than 400,000 views and thousands of comments.

The brand describes the foundation as a “makeup and skin-care hybrid” that features jojoba oil, hyaluronic acid, and squalene — all proven hydrating ingredients. The finish is meant to be dewy, which seems like it would make the perfect base for the “glass skin” trend. Since that’s the effect I look for in my complexion products, I immediately knew I had to try out this foundation.

As excited as I was to try the product, I was equally excited about the packaging, which is refillable and easy to recycle: the foundation is housed in a plastic tube that twists off and can be swapped out for a brand-new one when it’s done.

As for the foundation itself, the lineup is available in 26 shades, which the brand claims are extremely flexible to cover various skin tones. For me, I chose the shade 16N, a deep neutral color.

Using my NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation Brush ($15), I buffed the product onto my skin and was immediately impressed by the coverage. The color match was also really good for my slightly complicated undertone, and the formula blended easily and quickly. As I continued blending, I noticed an instant glow to my skin, as if I had just put on my favorite moisturizer.

After I finished applying the foundation, this product immediately cemented itself as a staple in my makeup collection. Not only was the color match exquisite, but the coverage was also out of this world. I have quite a few post-acne dark marks and scars, and they were camouflaged with one single layer of product. The dark mark above my lip (which I typically use as an indication for coverage levels) still peeked out just the slightest bit, but I was blown away by how much it was covered with just one coat.

While not a con for me, this foundation may need some setting if you’re someone with oily skin. My favorite trick is to set just my T-zone with powder, and when I did that, I was amazed that a subtle glow was still present in the areas that I had mattified with powder.

Not only is this foundation perfect for spring and summer, but it also honestly might be my go-to foundation year-round because of its versatility. Needless to say, this product has quickly reached holy-grail status for me, and it will never leave my makeup collection.
