This New $9 Spot Treatment Helped Reduce Some of My Biggest Breakouts

I’ve spent over a decade combating hormonal acne. After a recent change to my birth control and wearing face masks, I seem to be breaking out more than ever. I’m trying to get it under control with the combination of the right products. Within my lineup, I rely a lot on spot treatments for blemishes. I recently just tried the The INKEY List Succinic Acid Acne Treatment ($9) and it’s a great new addition to my rotation.

While I have quite a few spot treatments in my bathroom cabinet, this one stuck out to me because of the name. I’m familiar with salicylic acid, but succinic acid was a new term for me. The brand touts that the two percent formula helps to reduce blemish size and oiliness. In addition to that, it also has two percent sulfur powder, which helps unclog pores. Finally, it also contains one percent salicylic acid to help exfoliate. This powerhouse trio of ingredients made me excited to try it.

As a self-proclaimed picker, I know exactly what type of blemish I’m getting the second it pops up on my face. I often get black and white heads, but my biggest problem is deep cystic acne on my jawline or cheek. Not only are these big and painful, but they’re often superred and sometimes hard to cover with concealer. At the first site of a few I recently had, I applied this in the morning and at night. My blemish never magically disappeared (because that never happens for me), but it did go away a lot faster. I noticed within 24 hours the size was smaller and it was less red and aggravated than normal. What I like most about it, is that even though the formula is a fun green color, it goes on the skin clear making it a choice I can use both night and day. The formula is also smooth and hydrating, so you can’t tell my makeup in different in that area or flaky. Win, win. Keep reading to shop it and few of the brand’s other bestsellers.
