Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty got a telling off from his girlfriend for his happy birthday wish.

Former Strictly star Adam celebrated his partner Eiri's birthday by posting a snap of her pouting to the camera to his half a million Instagram followers.

However, the photo of his belle smiling with a fresh face and a pink camouflage bandana, with the caption, "Happy birthday Eiri Munro" did not go down well.

The record breaking swimmer, 27, added, "you are the best mum George could ever ask for” to the Instagram story caption, with a heart emoji for good measure. The photo provoked a comical reaction from the birthday girl.

Eiri, who studied fine art, jokingly replied "thanks for exposing my true identity", with crying and laughing emojis.

The Strictly star sought to redeem himself and posted a series of photos of his partner in more glamorous settings.

Adam met his long-term girlfriend Eirianedd Munro at Loughborough University and the cute couple have a baby son named George, born in 2020.

The pair were in the spotlight during the Olympian's time on Strictly Come Dancing. The experience was at times a difficult time for them both.

During the show, Eiri felt like she was bringing up their one year old son on her own.

She told the Daily Mail: "It's movie week and, before the show begins, Adam sends me a photograph of him looking hot, dressed and made-up as a character from Avatar. It's my favourite of all his Strictly costumes."

The 24 year old also discussed the pressures of when her gold medallist partner was involved in a hot routine with his dance partner Katya Jones.

She told the publication: "Adam warned me last night that this week's routine, the Argentine tango, is a 'very sexy dance'. I was like, 'Yeah, that's fine, I can handle it'. But watching, at home with my mum, woah, it's intense.

Eiri explained: "Afterwards, I decide to see what others are saying about it on Twitter and cannot believe how many people are suggesting that Adam almost kissed Katya. Obviously Adam didn't go in for a kiss."

"It gets really hard when family members and friends start messaging asking if I'm OK, obviously swayed by what they're reading online", Eiri added.

The couple came out of Strictly stronger and alongside Eiri's birthday have had an amazing start to 2022, as Adam was awarded an OBE for his incredible haul of swimming gold medals.
