Alison Hammond shocks as she claims she’s ‘SINGLE’ live on air – just weeks after she got ‘engaged’ to partner Ben Hawkins

Alison Hammond has confirmed she is single, sparking speculation that she’s split from partner Ben Hawkins.

The presenter, 48, let slip her relationship status on Friday’s This Morning, when she exclaimed: ‘I’m single!’ while discussing the new Love Island spin-off show with co-host Dermot O’Leary.

As Dermot read the casting call for new show The Romance Retreat – to be hosted by Davina McCall – he hinted to his co-star about signing up, telling her they were looking for ‘vibrant single parents’.

To which she replied: ‘Hey, I’m single!’

MailOnline have contacted Alison’s representatives for comment.

What happened? Alison Hammond has confirmed she is single, sparking speculation that she’s split from partner Ben Hawkins

It comes just weeks after Alison  awkwardly revealed she is not engaged to partner Ben during an episode of the ITV show amid speculation that they were to tie the knot.

This came just days after the presenter’s would be father-in-law, Colin Hawkins exclusively told MailOnline the couple ‘proposed to one another.’

Her co-star Dermot O’Leary opened the show to the sounds of wedding bells and exclaimed: ‘I hear a congratulations are in order, someone is getting married.’

Alison laughed: ‘Cut the music! I’m not engaged, I’m so sorry I’m not engaged!

‘I told you, if I was ever to get engaged or get married I would be the first person to tell you! I’d put all over Instagram and TikTok!’

Oh dear! Alison Hammond, 48, awkwardly revealed she is not engaged to partner Ben Hawkins during Friday’s episode of This Morning

She continued: ‘Sorry, it’s fake news! I’m not getting married. One day it might happen, but sorry babes but it’s fake news.’

‘You’d be the first to know!’

‘I was looking forward to walking you down the aisle!’ Dermot joked.

Earlier this week, in an exclusive chat to MailOnline Colin Hawkins, 72, said that wedding bells are on the horizon for the pair after they both ‘proposed to one another’.

When asked if Ben and Alison were marrying, Colin replied: ‘I do know they have both proposed to one another but there are no rings that I know of.’

He also said how Alison was the ‘nicest woman we’ve ever met’ and spoke of how happy the pair are.

It comes after the loved-up couple were pictured for the first time together last week as she left Ben’s home wearing a green dress and a camouflage coat.

The This Morning star is said to have fallen for Ben – who was pictured Tuesday at his Birmingham home – after employing him to tend to her garden at her West Midlands home almost two years ago.

It’s thought they have been together for around a year and a half now.

Speaking at his family home in Redditch, Ben’s father Colin has now said: ‘They are really happy but they haven’t got everything sorted just yet but they are both talking about marriage, that is true.

‘What I do know is that when it happens none of us will know about it because it’ll be done in private. That much they have told me.

Heartbroken: ‘I was looking forward to walking you down the aisle!’ Dermot joked

‘I love Alison to bits. She’s the nicest woman we’ve ever met. I would love to tell you a load of stories and they are all good, but I can’t because she’s asked us to keep things private.

‘If you go to her when you’re in trouble, she will help you, that’s the way she is. I know they will get it together and I won’t be there to see it but it will be a very proud day for me. I will be Alison’s father-in-law and that’ll be lovely.’

Representatives for Alison have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

It was previously revealed she had a mystery man she was ‘willing to marry.’
