BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has taken to Twitter to jokingly warn off actor Kelvin Fletcher, after he offered himself up as a substitute celebrity contestant on Strictly Come Dancing amid the programme’s multiple casualties. Kelvin won the show in 2019 after taking the place of Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing after he pulled out of the competition with a foot injury ahead of the show airing.

Reposting to the Hollyoaks actor’s comment which saw him offer to rejoin the BBC dance show, Dan warned him off in view of his 726,200 followers.

“There are already enough amazing dancers in this,” the newsreader penned alongside two laughing face emojis.

“Keep your hips to yourself,” he added.

Responding, Kelvin wrote: “Haha! There most certainly are! Loving it.”

Dan’s comment came after Kelvin offered himself up for the show after the programme suffered two casualties yesterday.

Two nights ago, It Takes Two host Janette Manrara announced the news that Peep Show star Robert Webb had withdrawn from the competition.

Speaking on his departure, Robert said: “I’m extremely sorry to have to announce that I’m withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing due to ill health.

“Two years ago, I had open-heart surgery and although I believed it was fit enough to take on Strictly and its demanding schedule, it became clear that I had bitten off way more than I could chew for this stage in my recovery.

“I had begun to feel symptoms that led me to seek an urgent consultation with my heart specialist, and it was her view that it would be better for the sake of my health to step back from the show,” the comedian explained.

“I’m proud of the three dances that Dianne Buswell and I managed to perform and deeply regret having to let her down like this,” he ended his statement.

However, soon after it was announced that former Rugby player Ugo Monye had decided to pull out of this week’s competition following “unwanted back problems”.

Posting on Instagram, the star revealed that he had been advised to rest before returning to the dance floor next week.

Ugo wrote: “Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to dance this weekend on the show.

“I have a history of back problems which has always been managed under the guidance of medical professionals.

“Unfortunately, this has been causing me some unwanted problems this week.”

He continued: “I have been advised by medical professionals and with huge support from Strictly to get some treatment & rest to ensure that I can get myself back to full capacity & fighting fit for next week.”

“Gutted Oti & I won’t be dancing this weekend but wishing all the other contestants the best of luck & will be cheering them on from home! @bbcstrictly,” Ugo concluded.

Following the news, Kelvin took to Twitter to offer himself up as a replacement for the show.

He wrote: “I’m here if you need me @bbcstrictly”, alongside a wink face.

Kelvin featured on series 17 of the dance show and was partnered with Oti Mabuse and they went on to win the show.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 6.45pm on BBC One.
