Blink-182 singer and bassist Mark Hoppus has revealed that he is fighting cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past three months.
Hoppus opened up about his situation on social media and said that he is “hopeful and positive,” but he still has months of treatment ahead. The 49-year-old musician, however, did not reveal what type of cancer he is battling.
“For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I have cancer,” Hoppus wrote. “It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this.”
“I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive,” he added. “Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all.”
According to Variety, Hoppus had first revealed his disease in a quickly deleted Instagram post on Wednesday morning.
The post featured a photo from what appeared to be a hospital room where he looked to be undergoing treatment. “Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please,” he captioned the pic.
