Busted confirm comeback with reunion tour 20 years after soaring to fame

Busted will reunite later this year for a special 20th anniversary tour.

Comprised of frontman Charlie Simpson (who was crowned this year's winner of The Masked Singer UK), bassist Matt Willis and guitarist James Bourne, the boyband announced this arena-packing news via The Sun following some cryptic social media activity.

Before a 15-date march across UK venues, though, which kicks off in Plymouth this September, the Year 3000 rockers are releasing a Greatest Hits-esque album with friends from fellow bands All Time Low, Simple Plan and McFly involved.

Fans won't need to wait long at all in getting their mitts on tickets, as the tour pre-sale is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, with the general sale taking place on Friday, March 31 at 9am.

"It's out of this world that we get to do this and we couldn't be more excited about it. It's going to be wicked," James, 39, began, while Matt, 39, also told the publication: "We've been kind of talking about it for a while… I mean, 20 years has always felt like it was kind of a moment we wanted to celebrate.

"People have asked me, 'Do you regret splitting up?' And I don't. It was s**t towards the end of Busted. It was a really bad vibe in the camp and it felt like the right time to stop that.

"Now it feels like how it's meant to feel. It's like the very beginning again. Right now it feels like it's barely even begun."

James suggested that this particular reunion will be different to the one that went down seven years ago, noting: "I feel like we all want it the most this time. This is the first time that we’ve come back all three of us fresh, having not done anything for a while.

"Last time, we had McBusted for two years. So the whole arena thing was quite heavy. It was a lot of arenas and so we weren't super fresh. But this feels like a real rested and reinvigorated version of our band."

Elsewhere, 37 year old Charlie is feeling rather appreciative of their fanbase ahead of the big reunion.

"If you look at the Busted fanbase it is incredibly strong. I just don’t know if you can build fanbases any more because there's no sense of belonging to an artist," he pondered.

"With the playlist generation, how do you become emotionally attached to an artist? I don't know. I feel like our fans are emotionally attached to us."
