Today, Carol Kirkwood joked she was worried about her co-star Matt Taylor not staying in the studio today as he didn’t take his coat off. The 60-year-old shared a selfie of the pair backstage on her Twitter page.

Matt was on camera duties as Carol put her arms around him embracing his presence.

The pair smiled for the snap while stood in the BBC studio.

In view of her 236,000 followers, she wrote: “Errr @MetMattTaylor you are staying aren’t you?!

“Getting worried as you still haven’t taken off your coat!!!”

Matt also shared the post on his Twitter page, writing: “Great Wednesday mornings begin with a cwtch with

@carolkirkwood I might stay for the rest of the shift.”

Others flocked to Carol’s post to share their thoughts.

Georgina Belcher commented: “Great pic of you lovely two.”

Ed Rik wrote: “What a lovely photo Carol and Matthew Happy Wednesday to you. Take away the rain.”

Derek Stothard typed: “@carolkirkwood and @MetMattTaylor. Lovely picture of you both x.”

In a recent interview, Carol addressed her future on the show.

The presenter said it’s unlikely she’d be a part of the team in 10 years and hopes her departure will be “natural”.

She told the Western Mail: “I try not to worry about things I can’t change.

“I don’t want to go, but one day it’s going to happen.”

Carol added: “Hopefully, it will be natural but I also have to acknowledge I’m 60 and am unlikely to be at the BBC when I’m 70, I would have thought.”

The broadcaster went on to say she didn’t want to be “using a stairlift” to get around the studio, so would leave when the time feels right.

Back in May, she shared some rare personal news on the show during a live broadcast.

Sally Nugent joked her co-star may have a problem standing up with the “giant rock” on her left hand.

Confirming the news, she replied: “Yes, I got engaged.

“We got engaged when we were on holiday, so it’s lovely news and we’re both thrilled. So, thank you!”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
