Charley Webb has revealed that her "lovely" mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 aged just 64.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday in an emotional Mother's Day post, the former Emmerdale star, 35, admitted "every day is a challenge" and added: "Even though she’s still here, I miss her."

Sharing a sweet picture of herself with her mum from her wedding day to Matthew Wolfenden in 2018, Charley penned: "In 2015, our lovely Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She was 64.

"This last 8 years have been a learning curve, a grieving process and something all of her children have struggled with. Every day is a challenge and brings difficulties which are really hard to come to terms with.

"8 years later we finally feel ready to talk about it and the goal is to raise as much money and awareness as possible, to be able to help everyone that may face this in the future. Even though she’s still here, I miss her. Always my Queen, HM’sD, love you Mama."

Charley's older brother, actor Jamie Lomas, 42, who plays Warren Fox in Hollyoaks, also shared a tribute post to his mum, as he said he "misses" her, even though she's "still here".

He shared a collage of four snaps of himself and his mum as they clearly displayed a close bond. One of the snaps saw Jamie greeting his mum when he came runner-up in ITV's I'm a Celebrity in 2017.

In his own heartfelt post, Jamie wrote: "In 2015 our beautiful mum was diagnosed with alzheimers and she was only 64. In 2017 I was lucky enough to be asked to go in the jungle and do @imacelebrity and I wanted to take my mum with me as my guest as I wanted us to have that amazing memory together and the ITV staff were absolutely brilliant.

"The last 8 years has been really tough for us as a family. Everyday brings its difficulties which is really hard to come to terms with and my heart goes out to anyone who has to deal with this awful illness.

"We are all ready to finally talk about this now openly and our goal is to try and raise as much awareness and money to try and tackle and help anyone that will have to face this in the future.

"I know you're still here but I miss you mum."

Jamie and Charley also share another sister named Cassie, and Jamie made sure to tag his sisters in his heartfelt post about their mother.
