Chrissy Teigen dyes her hair pink (for real), plus more news

Chrissy Teigen shows off a new pink ‘do

After teasing us with pink Instagram filters and wigs for months, Chrissy Teigen finally took the plunge and went for a new, spring-ready head of rose-colored locks. She showed off the new ‘do — which features brunette roots and glimmers of blonde along with the dusty pink sections — on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, April 6, but only after documenting what appears to have been her naturally brown hair’s rather long path to pink. On Sunday, the cookbook author posted pics and video from the salon as celeb-loved colorist Tracey Cunningham tweaked her shade from dark “bronde” to bright blonde. She seemed to dig the results, too, joking in the caption to one pic that maybe she and Tracey “should stop here.” Instead, they soldiered on. The next posts showed Chrissy’s head doused in something reddish Allure suspects was a gloss, which soon gave Chrissy a head of lovely strawberry blonde hair. They were apparently close at that point, but not yet finished. On Monday, more posts showed ,pre highlights and concentrated work from the hair stylists who seemed to have been circling Chrissy’s head for two days by that point. Then … nada. Finally on Tuesday, Chrissy hopped back on the ‘Gram — this time, with pink hair sans filters, wigs or blondified teases. Whether that’s truly the finish line for the hair color race she kicked off Sunday remains to be seen …

Prince Harry to appear on-camera in ‘Heart of Invictus,’ Archewell Productions’ first Netflix series

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have announced their first Netflix project as part of the multi-year deal they signed last year to create new content for the streaming giant. Produced by the couple’s Archewell Productions, the docuseries “Heart of Invictus” will focus on athletes’ road to the 2022 Invictus Games, a Paralympics-style event for service personnel from around the world “who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses,” according to the Invictus Games’ website. Harry will appear on camera and executive produce the series. The Duke of Sussex, who served in the British Armed Forces for a decade and completed two tours in Afghanistan, launched the international games after attending 2013’s Warrior Games event in the U.S., where he saw how helpful sports can be, “physically, psychologically and socially,” for wounded or ill veterans. Per the announcement, the Netflix series will “join the competitors as they train” and “follow organizers as they prepare” for the event, which was delayed to 2022 by the coronavirus pandemic. “Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve,” Harry said in a press release about the forthcoming series. “This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.” The release also notes that the series will “provide significant funding” to help sustain the Invictus Games Foundation and the work it does to support service people around the world. Meghan and Harry announced their Netflix deal in September; in December they announced they’ll also produce podcasts for Spotify through their production company. No release date has been announced yet for “Heart of Invictus.”

Joss Whedon accused of threatening to damage Gal Gadot’s career while shooting ‘Justice League’

Joss Whedon is facing a new raft of allegations about his behavior on the set of 2017’s “Justice League,” courtesy of an extensive new interview with Ray Fisher from The Hollywood Reporter. Among the new claims is an anecdote involving Joss’ alleged altercations with Gal Gadot, who’s said to have expressed “concerns with the revised version of the film,” which she felt tweaked her Wonder Woman character in such a way that the “Justice League” version didn’t match the original “Wonder Woman” version of the same superhero. Citing multiple sources, THR reports Joss “pushed [Gal] to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm [her] career and disparaged ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins.” An eyewitness who shared their account of the interactions in the investigation WarnerMedia eventually ordered into Joss’ behavior told the outlet, “Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.” Asked to comment on the new claims, Gal told THR in a statement, “I had my issues with [Joss] and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner.” Joss has not formally addressed the allegations. In February, multiple former stars of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” shared similar recollections of the director’s allegedly abusive treatment of cast and crew on that series.

Rihanna chats up a fan at rally to stop Asian hate after late-dinner with beau A$AP Rocky

Rihanna got a kick out of shocking a fan in New York City over the weekend by sharing her Instagram info with him during a rally to end the recent spate of hate crimes targeting Asian Americans and members of the Pacific Islander community. She attended the event clad in a dark face mask, baseball hat and huge sunglasses, presumably to keep the focus on her “Stop Asian Hate” sign’s message, which the singer’s assistant Tina Truong shared photos of on Instagram. Tina also shared a hilarious clip of a guy looking stunned as Rihanna shows him her Instagram. “That’s you?” he asks, audibly taken aback as Rihanna giggles. “When Rih gives you her IG handle but you think she trolling,” Tina captioned the post. The sweet interaction was part of a busy few days in the Big Apple for Rihanna, who joined her rumored boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky, for dinner at Carbone one evening before he flew out of town on Saturday. The day after Sunday’s rally, Rihanna caught up with her grandparents, brother and other family members at Pastis for a birthday dinner in honor of her mom, Monica, Braithewaite. After A$AP spent Christmas with Rihanna’s family in Barbados last year, a source told ET the two “definitely seem [to be] in love.”

New details about Rege-Jean Page’s ‘Bridgerton’ departure revealed

“Bridgerton” fans are still reeling from last week’s news Rege-Jean Page, who starred in Season 1 as the Duke of Hastings, won’t return for Season 2. Rege-Jean previously told Variety he found the role appealing in part because of the “one-season arc” of Simon’s romance with Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor). But after he and Netflix confirmed his departure from the show, multiple outlets reported the actor had been invited back and declined. So what exactly went down with his exit? According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, “everyone knew” the breakout Netflix star only had a one-year deal with the show, so he’s been “flooded with film offers” since his smoldering portrayal of Hastings, which also sparked a “Saturday Night Live” hosting spot this spring. In addition to the onslaught of offers, Rege-Jean recently wrapped shooting on Netflix’s upcoming film, “The Gray Man.” He’s also signed on to a major Dungeons and Dragons film alongside Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. Insiders also confirmed the claim Shonda Rhimes’ team offered Rege-Jean the chance to return as Simon for Season 2, despite the fact the character was absent from initial plans for that season. Between his blossoming breakout status and multiple movie offers, it seems coming back for a peripheral role just wasn’t appealing enough.

Demi Lovato says her new album taught her valuable lessons about self-love

Making “Dancing With the Devil … the Art of Starting Over” helped Demi Lovato embrace and respect herself even more after a tumultuous period in her life. Speaking to fans for her upcoming album release party on iHeartRadio, Demi reflected on how writing the new songs solidified for her what she wants in a partner — not that she necessarily needs one. “What I learned about myself while writing this album is that I’m a catch. I deserve the best kind of love. I hope that everyone that listens to this album can say the same thing for themselves,” the singer says in a teaser clip (via People). “And I realize that I never want to settle for anything less than what makes me feel absolutely amazing,” she continues. “This album helped me fall in love with myself because I’ve never been able to really feel super confident and stable on my own.” Released alongside a YouTube docuseries about her life leading up to and following a near-fatal overdose in 2018, Demi’s new album features music inspired by recent breakups, eating disorders, her struggles with substance abuse and her path to redefining her sexuality. And as she tells fans in the clip, singing about those and other topics gave Demi new insight into herself and her future. “This is the first time in my life where I am single and alone and I feel happier than ever before, even happier than some relationships I’ve been in. It’s been a really cool process getting to know myself,” she says, adding, “I learned that I’m a catch and I deserve someone great and I’m gonna wait until I find them.” Demi’s iHeartRadio album release party airs Thursday, April 8.

Christie Brinkley calls ageism the modelling industry’s ‘last frontier’

After nearly five decades of modelling, Christie Brinkley, 67, is impressed with how far her industry has come — but she believes it still needs to address ageism. In a new interview with British news outlet The Times, Christie says she regularly hears from fans who are frustrated with the lack of representation for older women in fashion. “Women tell me that they want to see themselves in there. They want to be stylish but they don’t want to look like they’re trying too hard. They want to be represented,” she explains. “I’ve been in this industry for 47 years now and I can’t begin to tell you how much it has evolved, but ageing is the last frontier.” Christie is starting to change that, though, with photo shoots like the 2017 Sports Illustrated cover she graced alongside her daughters, Sailor Brinkley Cook, and Alexa Ray Joel, then 18 and 31, respectively. “I’m too young not to be working,” Christie adds. “I love my job. All of it!”

Jimmy Fallon welcomes viral TikTok dance creators as guests after Addison Rae backlash

On Monday’s “Tonight Show,” Jimmy Fallon did what he could to fix a problematic episode from last month in which Addison Rae demoed the various moves to viral TikTok dances. The late-night host and influencer were immediately hit with backlash from viewers who complained the creators of the dances, most of whom are Black or people of color, got zero credit or even a mention. “On our last show before break, we did a bit with Addison Rae where she taught me eight viral TikTok dances,” Jimmy explained on Monday night (via Vulture). “Now, we recognize that the creators of those dances deserve to have their own spotlight. So right now, some of the creators will join me to talk about how their dance went viral and then perform the dance themselves.” He then chatted with Mya Nicole Johnson and Chris Cotter, who choreographed “Up;” Dorien Scott (“Corvette Corvette”); Fur-Quan Powell and Camyra Franklin (“Laffy Taffy); Adam Snyder, Nate Nale and Greg Dahl (“Blinding Lights”) and Keara Wilson, who said that seeing her “Savage” moves “bring joy to people throughout quarantine was definitely the best part” of her experience.
