Coleen Nolan’s sister Linda shares update on cancer battle

Coleen Nolan’s sister, Linda Nolan, has taken to Instagram to share an update with her followers on her battle with cancer.

Alongside a photo of herself, Linda wrote: Photo from my first day of radiotherapy earlier this week, 4 sessions down – another 6 to go!”

In late March, Linda, 64, shared the news that her incurable secondary breast cancer had spread to her brain and that she was, heartbreakingly, beginning to make arrangements for her funeral.

At the time, Linda said her late husband Brian Hudson, who passed away after battling skin cancer in 2007, as well as her sister Bernie, who tragically died from the disease in 2013, had both planned their own funerals.

She told theMirror: "Brian organised his funeral and it was amazing. Bernie arranged hers. It’s easier for people left behind. I’ve gone into it a little bit. A Neil Sedaka song, Our Last Song Together. And I know the funeral people I’m going to use.”

Linda explained that her sister Maureen Nolan, 68, suggested she should have a "pink glitter" coffin, which Linda has decided is "absolutely" what she is going to go for.

Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, and she underwent a mastectomy and 18 rounds of chemotherapy. Her devastating diagnosis came six years after her older sister Anne’s and four years before sister Bernie’s.

In 2017, her cancer returned in her hip, and in 2020 it returned in her liver. It has now spread to her brain and she has undergone 11 radiotherapy sessions to try and shrink the tumours on her brain.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain in March, Linda announced the devastating news that her cancer had spread.

The star said in a brave statement: "I've always been open about my treatments and what's happening in my life. I just want to tell you, from me, that unfortunately and sadly for me my cancer has now spread to my brain, which I only found out on Monday.

Following Linda’s devastating news, Coleen spoke out on Loose Women and told the panel: "Linda's had cancer since 2005. It's her strength and will to live, she's just so strong all the time and it makes the rest of us strong."
