Coronation Street’s Millie Gibson says emotional goodbye to fans as she leaves ITV soap

Coronation Street star Millie Gibson has penned an emotional farewell message to fans as she prepares to exit the soap after four years.

Millie, 18, who played Kelly Neelan, hosted friends to a leaving bash after announcing her departure.

The actress, who won the British Soap Award for Best Young Actor in 2022, took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt message to her fans, thanking them for their support.

"Now that the news is out about me exiting the cobbles, I just wanted to say I've had the most incredible four years," she said.

She continued: "Growing up here, I've made long lasting friendships, learnt so much and I am forever grateful for my time and the storylines I have been given.

She continued: "I'm really looking forward to you guys seeing the future episodes coming up and I can't think Corrie enough for letting me be a small piece in this beautiful family.

Millie closed the post by saying: "Kelly Neelan will be a part of my heart always. Thank you all for being so supportive."

The soap actress shared a photo of her character Kelly alongside the emotional message, as well as a red heart emoji.

It comes after Millie was seen being joined by a crowd of Coronation Street stars at her leaving bash in Manchester last week.

Another leaving drinks do was held at the Alchemist on Salford Quays, adjacent to Media City.

Dozens of other fan favourites were pictured turning up at the bar, where they stayed for the rest of the emotional day.

Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan on Corrie, and Nathan Graham, were also at the venue, having a fabulous time.

Fans could not hide their sadness in watching Millie go, with one fan saying: "Going to miss seeing Kely on the street…best of luck in your career".

"Good luck Millie, you are amazing," another fan said.

While another said: "Gutted you're leaving".

The Sun previously revealed Millie's character will last be seen in the ITV soap this autumn – with a dramatic exit storyline.

A Corrie source had also stated: “Millie’s a huge talent. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy over her exit storyline. It's going to be explosive."

Millie, a Weatherfield regular, joined the Coronation family in 2019, where she played the daughter of Rick (Greg Wood) and Laura (Kel Allen).

She joined the series after Rick's death, which was caused by Gary Windass (Mikey North) and was then fostered by Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo).

Although Millie's final episodes have not yet been aired, that did not stop her and the rest of her cast mates from giving her the send off that she deserves.

Apart from Corrie, Millie has also starred in CBBC series Jamie Johnson before landing the role of Kelly.
