Daniel Radcliffe Straight-Up Said He's Not "Interested" in Doing 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'

Daniel Radcliffe seems pretty over being The Boy Who Lived. When asked by The New York Times if he intended to reprise his most well-known role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he made it all kinds of clear that the answer was a hard nope.

Explaining that he was more than happy to take part in the Harry Potter reunion, Daniel added that he still felt his time as the titular character had come to an end. “This isn’t the answer that anybody’s going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it’s not a part of my day-to-day life anymore. I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of ‘Potter’ okay and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life.”

He added that “I’m never going to say never, but the ‘Star Wars’ guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now.”

Quick break for this gif:

Variety previously reported that director Chris Columbus wanted to reunite the original Harry Potter stars for a movie version of Cursed Child, saying “I would love to direct The Cursed Child. It’s a great play and the kids are actually the right age to play those roles. It’s a small fantasy of mine.”

But alas, looks like Daniel isn’t down, so if this play does get made into a movie, a new Harry Potter will need to step up.
