Iconic country singer and songwriter Dolly Parton has been married to her husband Carl Thomas Dean for 55 years. Despite spending over half a decade together, Dolly insists that she still likes to do her best to “look as good as she can” to keep up the chemistry with Carl.

Dolly, 76, shared a rare insight into her sex life with Carl during an interview with E! News’s Daily Pop yesterday.

“I like to dress up for Carl,” she began candidly.

“Every day, I put on some makeup and fix my hair because I think, ‘Well, the whole world, I’m out here and everybody else sees me all dressed up, and I’m not going to just kind of go home and just flop on him.’

“Nobody wants to make out with a slouch!” she added.

The couple tied the knot on May 30, 1966 and didn’t go on to have any children, although Dolly is the godmother of famous pop star Miley Cyrus.

Dolly continued: “It’s important to me that I look as good as I can.

“I think it kind of helps keep things spicy,” she added suggestively.

During the interview, the star also reflected on her iconic 1978 Playboy cover, which she recreated in July last year for her husband’s 79th birthday.

Confessing that Carl had “always loved” the picture of her dressed as a Playboy bunny, she decided to bring his fantasy to life in their kitchen.

“I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just go surprise my husband and just cook breakfast for him in my bunny suit,’” she said. “He got a kick out of it, and evidently a few other people did, too!”

Dolly became the first country singer to pose for the magazine, although within very specific parameters that did not include nudity.

Reflecting on the cover in a BBC Radio 5 Live interview she said: “I have been asked, back in the day, but that was so totally not me.

“I would never do that… but that was a good article they ran in there, and it was just a fun thing to do.

“That was just another way I was trying to market myself, at that time, to kinda get in the mainstream.”

Last week, Dolly took to social media to celebrate in her “birthday suit”.

The star turned 76-years-old last Wednesday and marked the occasion with a picture of herself looking all dolled up with her 4.7 million Instagram followers, complete with a cheeky caption.

Under the pic of her posing in a silky pink blazer and skirt with a lacey red undergarment beneath it, she wrote: “Just hangin’ out in my birthday suit!”

Dolly has a number of exciting projects coming up, including the release of her new album, as well as her debut novel.

Both entitled Run, Rose, Run, the album will be released on March 4, while the novel will drop three days later.

The country music sensation has teamed up with world-renowned author James Patterson to put her story to paper.
