There’s no “Undoing” Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant’s “strong” friendship.
Although the English power couple broke up more than two decades ago in 2000, Hurley said she’s “still extremely good friends with Hugh.”
Hurley, 55, and Grant, 60, met in 1987 while filming the Spanish production of “Remando Al Viento.” The couple dated for 13 years, even through Grant’s infamous encounter with a sex worker in 1995, before amicably splitting in May 2000.
“You know, we went through so much together,” Hurley said on the People in the ’90s podcast Thursday. “But I’ve been thinking, one of the most important things to keep good relations with your exes is to have a lot of respect for their current life.”
Grant married Swedish television producer Anna Eberstein in 2018. He shares three children with Eberstein and two children with ex Tinglan Hong. Hurley shares son Damian, 19, with late film producer Steve Bing. (Grant is Damian’s godfather.)

Hurley said she and Grant speak “quite a lot,” noting that the key to their “strong friendship” is understanding that you have to “move with the times and be very respectful of the present.”
“We haven’t been romantically involved for 20 years… But we’re always very aware that there are other people in our lives,” Hurley said. “There’s partners, there’s children. You can’t just, sort of, live in a lovely, rosy, mist of the past.”
Hurley referred to Grant as her “go-to person” for guidance. “I still go to him for advice on scripts, even though he’s very happily married with five children and I’m very happy in my own life, there’s still certain bits we crossover with very well,” she told People in October.
The feeling is mutual. During a 2015 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Grant called Hurley his “absolute best friend,” adding that she’s the “number one person I call in a crisis.”
