Advertising mogul Lord Saatchi is paying tribute to his late wife, author Josephine Hart, by commissioning National Theatre playwright David Eldridge to write a West End stage version of her 1991 novel Damage.
Lord Saatchi tells me that Josephine would be honoured to see her book adapted by Eldridge, but I hope the stage version is tamer than the rather erotic 1992 film adaptation which starred Jeremy Irons as an MP who falls for his son’s fiancee, played by Juliette Binoche.
