Gogglebox star Tom Malone Jr and girlfriend heartbroken as her dad dies

Former Googlebox star Tom Malone Jr and his girlfriend have been left heartbroken after her dad, Peter Briscoe, passed away on Tuesday.

Sharing the sad news with fans and paying tribute to his girlfriend's dad, Tom, 29, posted a black-and-white photograph of himself and Peter sharing a drink.

He captioned the sweet snap: "The world lost a great man today. Peter Briscoe…rest easy."

Tom's girlfriend Bryony commented on her boyfriend's touching post, writing: "I love you dad. The best men in my life. See you again soon paps."

Bryony shared her own tribute on her Instagram page, also posting some black-and-white photos of herself and her dad.

She wrote: "I don’t even have the right words right now and I don’t think I ever will. This morning my dad, my best friend, my inspiration finished his journey with us.

"I’m finding solace in the fact I can still feel your warmth around me like a big hug. I know you’ll be here to guide me and comfort me when I need you and I promise to do my best to make you proud. I love you truly and deeply, forever and always. Tuft."

Commenting on her post, Tom wrote: "An amazing man." alongside a prayer and heart emoji.

The couple's celeb pals shared their own messages of condolences, with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, commenting: "So sorry" followed by a crying emoji.


TV star Lateysha Grace wrote: "Omg bry I’m so so sorry, sending you loads of love light and prayers xxxx"

And Youtuber Saffron Barker added: "Oh my goodness I am so sorry, sending all my love, he will be looking down on you so proud."

Tom left Gogglebox left year, while other members of his family, mum Julie, dad Tom Senior and brother Shaun remain on the popular Channel 4 show.

In a statement, posted to Instagram in 2021, Tom announced his departure from the show after six years, he wrote: “So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox." followed by a TV emoji.

He continued: "I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.

“I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid," alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

"PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday."

He finished off his announcement with: “To the future.”
