Gorillaz recently released a video for their new single, “Cracker Island,” featuring Thundercat in multiple characters.
The video, directed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and the Emmy Award-nominated Nexus Studios director Fx Goby, centers around the animated group of musical outfits, Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D, and takes viewers on a late-night journey into Los Angeles. The group is seen relocating from London, scouting for new members to join “The Last Cult,” and searching for “the one truth to fix the world.”
“Think of it as the final scene in the movie, the bit after the grand finale when the hero (me) is about to stride into the sunset, credits rolling. That’s right, we’re starting at the end. Why? COS I WORK IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS,” Murdoc explained in a press release.
Greg Kurstin, Gorillaz and Remi Kabaka Jr. produced “Cracker Island.” The track is Gorillaz’ first release since last year’s surprise Meanwhile EP.
