Loose Women: Gregg Wallace reveals he’s lost four stone
MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, 56, has admitted he couldn’t help but feel “terrified” while watching some daring Barcelona natives building a Castell in the city when he travelled there to film his new Channel 5 show Big Weekends. A castell is a human tower, which is built traditionally at festivals in Catalonia, the Balearic islands and the Valencian Community.
At the festivals, people build and dismantle a tower’s structure, which they form with their bodies.
Gregg stumbled across the incredible feat performed by colles castelleres while filming in the city for his series, in which he embarks on various short trips around European destinations.
The star, who filmed the show before the coronavirus pandemic, recalled that he almost screamed when the human tower collapsed due to the risks involved.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Gregg said: “I nearly screamed when it collapsed, honestly, I just found the whole thing terrifying!

“First of all, it was quite fascinating and then as the towers got taller and taller I just got more and more stressed.
“It’s unique to that Catalan experience and culture that they’re so proud of, but yes of course it’s ludicrously dangerous but they’re not going to let it go, it’s who they are and what they do.”
Gregg went on to insist that although he was a bit shaken up by the sight of the human tower, he enjoyed the stunning festival decorations around it.
He continued: “We were fortunate that it was happening while we were travelling.
“We didn’t plan it around that, we were going to be there at the time and we had to see it.
“But the streets around it were amazing, the decorated street!”
Gregg revealed he remembers his weekend breaks very fondly in light of the third national lockdown being imposed in England.
He added: “It was absolutely brilliant wandering around those streets with all the bars opening onto the street, in a time where people could actually get close to each other and drink.”

The star went on to admit he hasn’t been missing the more luxurious aspects of travelling during lockdown.
Gregg divulged: “What I miss the most isn’t that five star experience.
“What I miss the most is sitting down and having a drink in the street or in a square, the thing that’s the cheapest thing to do is what I really want to do the most.
“I think, and Barcelona is a perfect example, I don’t think you judge a country or a city’s food culture by how good its top end is.
“I think you judge it by how good its cheapest is, and Barcelona absolutely comes up trumps, stunning.”
Gregg also opened up on his experience in lockdown with his wife Anna and their 16-month-old son Sid.
Giving an insight into their home life, he said: “We were very fortunate that there’s five adults here and a baby so it’s in no way boring, we can go out for walks.
“I’m missing going to the pub and restaurants and wearing anything but cargo pants and a T-shirt.
“I’m fine at home, I don’t want to go out on my own, I just want to go out with us, to a pub.”
