Gwyneth Paltrow shares her 'love' for ex, Chris Martin, with rare selfie of the two, plus more news

Gwyneth Paltrow celebrates Chris Martin and Brad Falchuk’s back-to-back birthdays

Gwyneth Paltrow and her ex-husband, Chris Martin, got major #divorcegoals props on Thursday (March 2) after Gwyneth shared a sweet selfie of the two in honor of Chris’ 46th trip around the sun. “Happy birthday to the sweetest father and friend❤️we love you, cajm,” the Goop creator captioned a shot of the pair grinning and leaning in close to each other for the camera.

“You guys are a testament to success in maintaining important relationships even after you go your separate ways. I so believe in that,” one Instagram user wrote in the comments. “… That closeness that two people share should always remain a bond between them and it’s so healthy for the kids. The love still there shows in the eyes. It might be a different kind of love but it is just as powerful.” Gwyneth and Chris — who announced their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 — share two kids, Apple, 18, and Moses, 16. Chris has since moved on with actress Dakota Johnson, while Gwyneth married producer Brad Falchuk, who also got some Insta-birthday love from Gwyneth this week when he turned 51 on Wednesday. “He won’t see this as he’s not on social (another reason why he’s so cool),” she captioned a shot of the birthday boy, “but let’s all wish him a happy birthday, anyway💙.”

Chris Rock will reportedly break his silence on Oscars slap one week before the 2023 Academy Awards

Chris Rock is widely expected to break his silence on the infamous Will Smith Oscars slap when he takes the stage in Baltimore this weekend for his new Netflix special, “Selective Outrage.” For the better part of a year, the comic has largely stayed mum on the incident, in which Will marched onstage during the 2022 Oscars and smacked Chris for making a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Though Chris has joked about the slap occasionally in standup routines, the Netflix special will offer a much bigger audience. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Selective Outrage” is a phrase Chris has “riffed on in relation to [Will] at recent performances.” And while the outlet notes Chris’ slap-related material “accounted for only about five minutes of” two recent standup sets, WSJ reported those jokes “earned the biggest laughs and cheers.”

“The thing people want to know … did it hurt? Hell yeah, it hurt,” Chris reportedly said at a show in January. “He played Muhammad Ali! I played Pookie!” he added, referencing Will’s 2001 portrayal of the acclaimed boxer and his own role as a drug addict who ends up dead in 1991’s “New Jack City.” Chris has also made cracks about Will’s music career and the slap, telling one audience, “I got hit so hard I heard ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears,” per The Sun. “Selective Outrage” airs live Saturday (March 4), one week before the 2023 Academy Awards on March 12.

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming gushes about her love for him after dementia diagnosis

After Bruce Willis’ family announced his recent dementia diagnosis, the “Die Hard” star’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, professed her love for Bruce once more while sharing a cute throwback video on her Instagram Stories. The clip, posted on Wednesday (March 1), shows Bruce in full supportive-husband mode as he reads what appears to be a promo for Emma’s coconut oil-based skincare company. “USA Weekly interview with Emma-Heming Willis, founder and CEO of Cocobaba,” Bruce says in the clip. When Emma replies, “how ’bout it?,” Bruce teases, “how ’bout it I’m crazy ’bout it!” “What’s this new memory thingy on IG!? OMG my biggest fan. I’m in love with him,” she captioned the Story.

Emma’s post comes just days after she and her loved ones revealed Bruce, 67, is now suffering from Frontotemporal Dementia or FTD, news she and her family shared with help from the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. This week, Emma also posted about working with Teepa Snow, an acclaimed authority in dementia care and advocate for people living with brain change who Emma called “a gift” and said has helped her “add to my dementia care toolbox.” Bruce’s family announced in spring 2022 that he was battling aphasia, a disorder that affects the ability to “comprehend or formulate language,” according to the New England Journal of Medicine. Dementia is a common cause of aphasia.

Chaka Khan slams Rolling Stone’s ‘Greatest Singers’ list after shading Adele, Mariah and more

Legendary funk singer Chaka Khan has some issues with Rolling Stone’s “200 Greatest Singers of All Time” list — including the rankings awarded to Mariah Carey, Adele and Mary J. Blige. In a recent appearance on Los Angeles magazine’s “The Originals” podcast, the 10-time Grammy winner was asked about the list, which features Chaka at No. 29. Though she landed far above the likes of Tina Turner (No. 55) and Mick Jagger (No. 52), Chaka was generally not impressed with the editors’ choices. Upon learning Mariah was named the fifth greatest singer of all time, for example, Chaka replied, “That must be payola or some s*** like that,” according to ET. Host Andrew Goldman then said Adele landed at No. 22. “OK, I quit,” Chaka responded. Before she could bow out, however, the host said Mary J. came in at No. 25. “They are blind as a motherf****** bat!” Chaka exclaimed. “They need hearing aids … these must be the children of Helen Keller!” She had kinder reactions to the listings of Aretha Franklin at No.1, Whitney Houston at No. 2 and Beyonce at No. 8, calling Aretha’s No. 1 spot “justice.” Chaka also took aim at the list itself, which she said amounts to “a hate list where [we say] ‘They’re doing better than me.'” She added: “That’s ridiculous. I refuse to be in a space where I look at my fellow artists and they’re pitting us against each other.”

Aaron Carter’s mother accuses police of inadequate investigation into his death

Aaron Carter’s mother turned to Facebook photos this week in a bid to spark a homicide investigation into the singer’s November 2022 death. “Still trying to get a real investigation for the death of my son Aaron Carter,” Jane Carter wrote on Facebook on Wednesday (March 1), using her Jane Schneck account. Sharing photos she said were taken inside the bathroom where Aaron’s body was found, shortly after his death, she said she was posting the images “because the coroner wrote it off as an accidental drug overdose.” Aaron, 34, struggled with addiction issues for many years, going through five stints in rehab, according to the Los Angeles Times. While the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner Coroner deferred a declaration of Aaron’s cause of death “pending chemical tests,” Jane said police are not taking the homicide possibility seriously because of Aaron’s “mental illness and prescription drug issues.” She alleged the photos she was sharing, which showed green-tinged water in the bathtub and on towels and clothing nearby, “were not taken by police,” saying they “allowed people to go in and out” of the bathroom. She also claimed, “Aaron had a lot of death threats and many many people who were making his life miserable.”

In a statement to the Times on Thursday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said: “Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of Aaron Carter. To date, there has been no evidence of foul play found during the investigation. The results of Mr. Carter’s autopsy are still pending. The investigation remains ongoing.”
