Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton, 38, spoke candidly about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It comes after Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, recently addressed their mental health in candid interviews.
Earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Meghan opened up about her life as a royal and feeling discouraged to seek treatment for her mental health.
Prince Harry’s new Apple TV+ special The Me You Can’t See also explored the royal’s struggles with mental health and was released last month.
Kevin has now opened up about the couple’s decision to be candid with the public.
The West End performer explained that while he can’t relate to their life as royals he understood the importance of being vocal about mental health.
Kevin said: “Sometimes it takes people in their position to talk about [mental health].
“I think that they have been very brave in talking about it. I applaud them for it really.”
He continued: “I can’t relate or really imagine what it must be like to be in their position but I can only applaud them for speaking about these things.”
During the latest broadcast, Prince Harry was promoting his new Apple TV+ documentary.
The mental health serial was reportedly due to be released last autumn, with him again working alongside Oprah, 66.
The series also featured a whole host of other famous faces, including Glenn Close and Lady Gaga to name just a few.
Prince Harry spoke candidly about his struggles with his mental health and coping with grief after the loss of his mother Princess Diana.
The Duke admitted he had been “all over the place, mentally” following his loss.

He said he had experienced panic attacks and severe anxiety during his time as a working member of the royal family and told Oprah that he had begun therapy four years ago.
Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal duties last year and have since relocated to Montecito, California.
The couple last weekend announced the arrival of their second child, daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Meanwhile, Kevin also touched on his own struggles dealing with anxiety and the pressure of being in a competitive dancing environment.
He explained: “I’ve often struggled with anxiety or pressure of having to be a certain person.
“Everything was dance competitions, and getting a role on stage, then going onto Strictly and impressing the judges and hopefully people are going to vote for you.”
Kevin announced his exit from Strictly in 2020 and but has continued his stage work as a West End performer.
The professional dancer revealed he often meditates and is able to control his anxiety.
Kevin has since shared his excitement at returning to the theatre stage in Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of The Worlds with the multi-award-winning show making a comeback in 2022.
The West End star will be making his debut as The Artilleryman alongside Steps’ and stage star Claire Richards, who makes her debut as Beth, The Parson’s Wife.
Speaking about his new role, Kevin explained: “It’s so relevant. It’s a huge production in terms of the size and scope of the show.”
