Hollyoaks stars Jorgie Porter and Kieron Richardson open up about ‘hard’ times as parents

Hollyoaks' stars and best friends Jorgie Porter, 35, and Kieron Richardson, 37, have opened up to OK! about the hardships of parenthood.

In an exclusive chat at this year's Television and Radio Industries Club celebration, where OK! is the official media partner, the duo admitted that looking after their little ones can be pretty tough.

First-time mum Jorgie, who plays Theresa McQueen in the soap, welcomed her first son Forest, whom she shares with fiancé Ollie Piotrowski.

She walked the carpet with her close co-star Kieron, known for his character Ste Hay and who shares six-year-old twins, Chase and Phoebe, with his husband Carl.

Opening up about life as a new mum, Jorgie told us: "Oh, [it's] hard, lovable, amazing, stressful."

The actress is known for keeping things real when it comes to motherhood, updating her Instagram followers on all the mishaps that come with a new-born.

She adds: "You have to laugh about it… the poonamis, the throwing up in your mouth."

She laughs, "It's the snot I can't deal with. We are both ill at the minute, so I'm sitting sucking snot out of his mouth."

Kieron, who welcomed his twins five years ago via surrogate, also opened up about the trials and tribulations of parenthood, adding: "It's like the best thing in the world, but it's also the hardest job in the world.

"I think I'm quite a selfish person sleep-wise; I like a lie-in on my day off.

"But it's been six years of getting up early now, so it's been quite tough, and the grandparents take bookings quite a lot!"

Kieron also admitted that it's been difficult trying to settle the twins into a routine, adding, "They are still getting out of bed most nights, so we are still trying to crack it.

"There is no manual on how to do it, there is no right or wrong. But they are happy and healthy."

OK! also asked Kieron if he would ever consider making a reality TV-style show about his life as a dad, with the actor not ruling it out.

He responded: "Originally, I was like no, never! But you just don't know what's around the corner.

"We're quite a unique friend group, but me and Jorgie are best friends, so it would be nice."

The pair have been on holiday together with Kieron's kids, and with Jorgie now a mum too, they are looking forward to Forrest being old enough for playdates.

Kieron added: "When the kids were little, they were raiding through Jorgie's makeup bag and destroying it.

"So now that they've got Forrest into the mix and he's sitting up now, hopefully that's when he starts crawling about…"

Jorgie hilariously finished his sentence, "…he'll start ruining your stuff!"
