Hollywood reacts to Bob Iger’s return to Disney

On Monday (Nov. 21), celebs and Hollywood execs celebrated the news of Bob Iger’s return to the helm of Disney — and Bob Chapek’s ouster — with stars like Josh Gad hopping on social media to post about their excitement. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy. Welcome home @RobertIger.” the “Frozen” star tweeted, adding, “❤️❤️❤️- the GOAT is back!!!!” Others, like “My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” actor Benjamin Siemon, praised Disney for its decision, given both execs’ stances on LGBTQ issues. “Iger helped stand up for LGBTQ employees while Bob Chapek stayed silent as ‘Don’t Say Gay’ passed,” he tweeted. “Chapek’s indifference cemented the trend of corporations saying nothing as LGBTQ employees suffered.” Disney saw stocks enjoy a boost as well on Monday, although analysts are already warning of an upcoming period of “uncertainty,” as Iger begins to dismantle some of the changes Chapek instituted at the company. Yahoo reports Iger quickly fired Kareem Daniel after taking over his former post and began “restructuring” Disney’s Media and Entertainment Distribution division. Although the outlet notes the changes are causing confusion among some employees, the response on social media remained positive as of Tuesday.

Kanye West tweets ‘Shalom,’ skips divorce deposition amid backlash

mid ongoing backlash over his recent antisemitic remarks, Kanye West returned to Twitter on Sunday (Nov. 20), to check if his account was still working. Having confirmed that it was, he promptly posted the Hebrew greeting, “Shalom,” followed by a smiley face emoji. In his initial tweet, the rapper, who now goes by Ye, wrote, “Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked.” (His account was neither blocked by Twitter nor reinstated by the service’s new owner Elon Musk, according to the New York Times. It was reportedly just restricted and his offensive post about Jewish people was removed.) The tweets marked Ye’s first posts on the platform in two weeks — but Twitter isn’t the only place the rapper’s seemingly avoided this month. According to TMZ, Ye was scheduled to be deposed by attorneys for his ex, Kim Kardashian, on Nov. 16, but either missed or skipped the meeting. The outlet reports he now has one more chance to follow through with the deposition — on Nov. 29 — before the former couple’s trial begins on Dec. 14. The two have already been declared legally single in the wake of Kim’s 2020 divorce filing, but have yet to settle on a custody agreement for their four children or a division of assets.

How Travis Barker really feels about filming intimate moments with Kourtney

Travis Barker has no qualms about sharing the most intimate aspects of his IVF journey with wife Kourtney Kardashian for her family’s Hulu show, “The Kardashians.” But as the Blink-182 drummer recently told GQ, there’s a line he won’t cross again when it comes to filming his private life for reality TV. Documenting his and Kourtney’s attempts to expand their family, Travis reasons, means shining a light on common challenges families face. “It’s real life. And if any of that can help people — seeing Kourtney’s journey through IVF, which is super hard for a woman. You saw her struggle with it and talk about it. That’s real,” he says, adding that there are also “however many millions of dudes” who’ve devoted their bodily functions to “this same procedure, so it’s, like, relatable,” Travis says. “I’ve never been fazed by any of that.” He also allowed his 2021 proposal to Kourtney be filmed for the show after Kourt’s mom, Kris Jenner, asked him to let the cameras roll when he popped the question. His agreement came with a condition, though. “I can’t see one camera, and Kourtney cannot see one camera,” Travis says of his terms for the deal. Producers opted to use GoPros, which they were able to hide on the beach. Things were apparently more intense and more invasive when Travis and his then-wife Shanna Moakler filmed “Meet the Barkers” for MTV. “There were cameras placed throughout my house. There were people living at my house. It was insane, y’know. And it wasn’t really for me, at that level, it was too much,” he recalls. “The only time I really film with Kourt is when she asks me to, and I’m only around for some of it,” Travis adds. “She’ll be like, ‘Hey, by the way, we’re filming today,’ and I’m like, ‘OK, cool’ — it doesn’t change how I act or what I dress like, you know what I mean?” In a September interview with WSJ Magazine, Kourtney, 43, said she pressed pause on the IVF before she and Travis, 47, got married earlier this year.

Machine Gun Kelly implies moon landing was a hoax in AMAs speech

At the American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 20) — just hours before NASA’s Orion spacecraft flew around the dark side of the moon on a test flight — Machine Gun Kelly implied the Apollo 11’s 1969 moon landing never really happened. The singer was accepting his award for favorite rock artist when he dubbed himself a “rocket man” who managed to shift from rap into the rock genre. But he raised eyebrows when he said the United States “supposedly” landed on the moon. “There have been some people in the rock community who called me a tourist, but they’re wrong. I’m a rocket man,” MGK told the audience. “We weren’t born on the moon but we looked at it and we were curious and then we went there … supposedly … and these two rock albums were me going to the moon. But I’m not exploring the universe yet, and I am all genres,” he added before joking, “I’ll see you on Mars, m************!” and tossing the mic stand. As of Monday, he hadn’t elaborated on whether he believes the long-debunked conspiracy theory claiming the moon landing was a hoax, according to People.

Jennifer Lopez dubs Ben Affleck ‘the person that makes me the happiest’ (despite his ‘aggressively’ loud gum chewing)

After wrapping her work on Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “Atlas,” Jennifer Lopez spent some quality time snuggling with her husband, Ben Affleck, over the weekend. She also invited Ben onto her TikTok for a moment of shared marital bliss. A short but uber-sweet video posted to JLo’s account on Sunday (Nov. 20) shows the newlyweds holding each other close as Pink’s “Try” plays in the background. After they both ham it up for the camera with faux pouts, a young-sounding British voice says over the music, “Guys I did it. I found the person that makes me the happiest I have ever been.” Jen then smiles brightly, while Ben rather inexplicably smacks his gum — loudly — and the two gaze into the camera. While the gum situation didn’t earn Ben the best feedback — “Why does he start aggressively chewing though 😂?” one user asked in the comments — the clip still left plenty of fans swooning enough to congratulate the pair on their on-again love. Ben and Jen rekindled their early aughts romance in 2021, after two decades apart. They tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this year, then hosted a full-scale wedding celebration for friends and family in Georgia in August.

Drew Barrymore reflects on her ‘liberating’ sobriety journey ahead of the holidays

Drew Barrymore says she’s finally “free” from the “guilt and dysfunction” alcohol brought into her life. In a new essay for the December issue of her self-titled magazine, Drew, 47, reflects on how sobriety has improved her sense of well-being. She also encourages readers to be kind to themselves this holiday season, vowing that she’ll do the same. Ditching booze after her divorce from Will Kopelman “has been one of the most liberating things in my journey of life,” Drew writes in the piece, titled “Take Care of Yourself,” via Entertainment Tonight. She goes on to acknowledge “it can feel selfish to turn that spotlight [of love] on ourselves,” before urging fans to give it a try. “One of the bravest things you can do is slay those dragons and finally change an awful cycle in which you’ve found yourself stuck. For me, it was to stop drinking,” Drew writes. With alcohol out of the picture, she says she’s “finally become free of the torture of guilt and dysfunction.” Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Drew adds muses: “During the holidays, when we spend so much energy trying to measure up to the picture-perfect standards set by the Norman Rockwells of the world, I’d like for you to try to remember to give yourself a pass — a hug, as it were — and I will try, too. Take a moment, take a breath, and give yourself a squeeze. We’re all just doing our best out here. And that in and of itself is something to celebrate.”

Andy Cohen links Colorado shooting to anti-LGBTQ political rhetoric

In the days after a man opened fire in an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, over the weekend, killing five, stars like Andy Cohen, Ariana Grande and more joined the throngs of voices weighing in on America’s latest mass shooting. “What a sad morning in America,” Andy tweeted on Sunday (Nov. 20), the morning after the deadly shooting. “Perhaps this sick attack in Colorado will cause politicians to think twice before fanning flames of homophobia. Let people be who they are for once and for all.” He later retweeted the columnist Dan Savage, who’d posted, “Unarmed queers in a gay bar in Colorado Springs were able to do what hundreds of armed men couldn’t do in Uvalde,” drawing a contrast between the Colorado incident and the deadly school shooting in Texas earlier this year where more guns on the scene failed to stop the violence. Ariana, who’s spoken openly about the PTSD she suffered after a shooting outside her concert in Manchester, England, shared a series of red heart emojis and resources for those affected by the incident, while Amy Schumer honored Trans Remembrance Day and vowed to stand with the LGBTQ community as violent hate crimes continue to rise.
