Hugh Jackman undergoes biopsy amid past skin cancer scares … and says that his doctors ‘think it’s probably fine’

Hugh Jackman underwent a biopsy on his nose Monday at the order of his doctors, as he informed his fans of his health status less than eight years after he revealed a past skin cancer battle.

The Sydney, Australia native, 52, captioned the shot in a Twitter post, ‘A couple of notes: please get skin checks often, please don’t think it can’t happen to you and, above all, please wear sunscreen.’

In a clip accompanying the post, Jackman pulled down a protective face mask to reveal a small bandage on his nose in the wake of the procedure, explaining the course of events leading up to it.

‘I just went to see Lisa and Trevor, my amazing dermatologist and doctors,’ the Oscar-nominated actor said in the clip. ‘They saw something that was a little irregular so they took a biopsy, getting it checked.

‘So if you see a shot of me with this on, do not freak out. Thank you for your concern, I’ll let you know what’s going on but they think it’s probably fine.’

The dapper actor urged his fans to stay on top of their health situations, ending the clip in saying, ‘Remember, go and get a check and wear sunscreen – don’t be like me as a kid – just wear sunscreen.’

The Greatest Showman actor has past publicly spoken about his skin cancer battle, as he was treated for basal-cell carcinoma in November 2013.

He opened up to People about the ordeal in 2015, telling the outlet that he underwent check-ups ‘every three months’ in the wake of his initial diagnosis.

‘It’s the new normal for me,’ he said. ‘My doctor says I’ll likely have more, and if that’s your cross to bear in life, you should be so lucky.’

Jackman added, ‘It’s always a bit of a shock just hearing the word cancer. Being an Australian it’s a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.’

Looking ahead: Jackman is currently in preparation for the Broadway musical The Music Man, which is slated to open later this year. He was snapped in NYC last month

He told ABC News in 2015 that his childhood ‘was all outdoors’ and that protective ointments such as sunscreen were not a priority in his family.

‘I don’t think my dad or mom ever bought it or made us put it on,’ he said. ‘The thing I remember most, the rule about being outdoors was you weren’t allowed to swim within half an hour of eating … and it’s not true.’

Jackman is currently in preparation for the Broadway musical The Music Man, which is slated to open later this year.
