Louise Redknapp stars as Violet Newstead in the UK tour of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical. Playing one of the main characters means the she is barely off the stage in the show, which the 47-year-old admits comes with huge pressure due to being dyslexic.

The singer explained: “When I’m on stage, I have a pretty big script, Violet pretty much doesn’t come off stage for the whole thing.

“She has huge chunks, I’m really dyslexic so learning a script for me is really difficult.”

Louise said doing an action alongside a big piece of dialogue helps to remember her words.

“So even with singing, a small little action helps me remember what’s next,” she added.

Louise went on to say that having a two hours resting on her shoulders intensifies the pressure.

Having a bad attention span also didn’t help while on stage, she spilled.

The mother-of-two praised her manager for leaving gentle reminders in her dressing room about certain lyrics she had forgotten.

“I only need to spot to something or someone and I can completely forget what I’m doing, so I need to work on that,” she added on Steve Anderson’s Such A Good Feeling podcast.

Louise needn’t to worry about forgetting her lyrics for much longer, as Claire Sweeney will be taking over her role in January.

The singer and actress is scheduled to appear in shows from 13 January to 5 March 2022.

Louise came back into the limelight in 2018 following her split from Jamie Redknapp.

The couple’s marriage came to an end after 20 years in a split nobody saw coming.
