Janette Manrara says husband Aljaž Škorjanec refused her dream wedding

TV presenter Janette Manrara has revealed that her fellow Strictly Come Dancing husband Aljaž Škorjanec refused to let her have her dream wedding.

Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on Disney’s Journey to the Magic podcast, Janette, 38, admitted she didn’t get the Disney-themed wedding she wanted.

“I've not [been on a Disney cruise] – I almost did try and convince Aljaz to get married on one!” the Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter revealed.

“When we were talking about weddings and what we're going to do for the wedding, my dream would have always been to have a proper Disney wedding in the castle.”

But Aljaž, who has quit the popular BBC dancing show, put his foot down.

Janette explained: “Aljaz was like ‘OK I know you love Disney, but it’s our wedding day so let's meet in the middle.’”

Luckily the couple found a compromise with a Disney honeymoon instead.

Janette told Giovanna: “We got married in London on the Saturday, Sunday we kind of rested and on Monday we went straight to Disneyland Paris with the whole family.”

Janette must have been relieved that the theme Disney did still make its way into her wedding, as she revealed her husband made an adorable reference to her love for the brand.

“In his vows he wrote, ‘I promise to take you to Disney once a year for the rest of our lives!’ That was the first vow he gave me in our wedding vows!” Janette gushed.

The star did reveal that the promise is yet to be met, telling Giovanna “he’s not fulfilled it last year, so we have to go next year!”

Janette married Aljaz in July 2017 in a beautiful London ceremony, before renewing their vows in both Florida and Slovenia a week later. The couple had been together for six years before this, and got engaged in 2015.

Aljaz followed his wife’s footsteps in March when he announced that he was leaving his role as a professional dancer on Strictly after almost ten years.

Janette, who left the year before, made her exit to host spin-off show It Takes Two.

The dancers have recently revealed that they would love to become co-presenters, telling Hello!: “We love watching Eammon and Ruth, so to do something like that would be amazing.”

Aljaz is currently retraining as an actor and is set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
