The reason for Josh Duggar‘s arrest has been revealed.
The 33-year-old 19 Kids and Counting reality TV star was charged with two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography upon his arrest on Thursday (April 29), the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Arkansas said in a press release Friday (April 30).
“According to court documents, Joshua James Duggar, 33, allegedly used the internet to download child sexual abuse material. Duggar allegedly possessed this material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019,” the release reads.

Josh Duggar pled not guilty to the charges during his arraignment, and is still being held without bond. The trial is set to begin July 6.
A court hearing is set for next week to determine if he will be granted bond release. If so, he is required to stay with a third-party custodian who can’t have unsupervised minors in the home.
If he is convicted, Josh Duggar faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for each count.
He has been ordered to forfeit any material related to the case to authorities, including any and all computer equipment.
If you didn’t know, Josh Duggar was taken into custody and placed on a federal hold at a jail in Arkansas, but the charges were not made public at the time.
His wife, Anna Duggar, announced that the couple are expecting their seventh child just days before. They also are parents to Mackynzie, 11, Michael, 9, Marcus, 7, Meredith, 5, Mason, 3, and Maryella, 17 months.
Back in 2015, a police report alleging that Josh molested five underage girls between 2002 and 2003, when he was 14-15 years old, surfaced.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret,” he said at the time.
