Julia Louis-Dreyfus details her 'devastating' miscarriage after 'Seinfeld' casting, more news

‘Devastating’ loss

Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that she suffered a miscarriage just as she was getting her big break. “When I was about 28, I got pregnant for the first time, and I was crazy happy,” the “Veep” star said on Tuesday’s episode of her “Wiser Than Me” podcast. “I got pregnant easily. I felt very fertile, very womanly. And then, quite late in the pregnancy, my husband Brad [Hall] and I discovered that this little fetus was not going to live.” The pregnancy loss, which came the same year she was cast in “Seinfeld,” was “devastating.” Soon after, Julia, 62, was hospitalized with an infection. “I finally got out of the hospital, and I came home to recuperate, but I wasn’t allowed to get out of bed yet,” she recalled. “I was, as they say, bedridden.” Julia and Brad went on to welcome sons in 1992 and 1997.

Reality exit coming?

Kim Kardashian’s reality TV days might be numbered. While speaking as part of the Time100 Summit on Tuesday, April 25, Kim was asked if her criminal justice reform work was her most meaningful. “I hope so,” she told CNN. “I always joke with my mom, [manager Kris Jenner], I say Kim K. is retiring, and I’m just going to be an attorney. So you can go help my siblings, so you can still have a job.” Kim isn’t joking either, saying the comment was a “heads up” to her family to let them know she might step away from the cameras. “I would be just as happy being an attorney full time,” she said.

Drunk denial

Morgan Wallen saddened his fans this week after canceled an Oxford, Miss., concert moments before he was set to go on stage. Via a video, fans were told Morgan lost is voice. However, a security guard claims Morgan was “too drunk” and was taken out of the venue by ambulance. “Losing his voice is bullcrap,” the unnamed officer said in a viral TikTok video, adding that Morgan “couldn’t walk” because he was “drunk.” However, both the company that hired the security guard and the “Last Night” singer’s record label argued otherwise. “A hired employee of BEST Crowd Management made false claims as it related to last night’s Morgan Wallen concert and we do not stand behind the detail in his statement,” the security company wrote on its Instagram Story. Afterward, Big Loud Records CEO Seth England reposted the message. “Thank you @bestcrowdmanagement for correcting your employee, who made up an entire story that was nowhere close to true. Every detail was false,” the statement said. “Laughable what some people will just say for a reaction.”

Post-rehab houseguest

After his two month stint in rehab in 2021, John Mulaney found himself “between lives” and needing a place to stay. It was then that Jimmy Kimmel’s phone rang. The late night host, it turns out, has a guest house and has often offered it to friends in need of shelter. “I must have filed it away. So I was in rehab, then I was in a sober living situation and then I was coming to L.A. and I called you and I said, ‘Hey, I’m between lives. You’ve always mentioned this,'” John told Jimmy on his late night show. “I remember thinking, ‘I’m going to call his bluff.’ You’d said it enough times. So I lived in his guest house for a few weeks, then another few weeks.” Jimmy said it was as if he and his wife, Molly, “adopted a son.” During his stay with the Kimmel’s John “never saw” Jimmy, but he gave the five-star review. “I was treated so well. I never saw you, no, I never did. But I’d wake up with a basket of bagels. He was like my sugar daddy,” John joked. “I’d wake up and there’d be money for the day, go buy an outfit. And a nice restaurant-quality espresso machine, not bad. If you’re thinking about not having a home, it gets real good over there.”

Mental health confession

Kevin Smith revealed that he sought treatment earlier this year for his mental health. In chatting with People magazine, the “Clerks” director recalled checking into the Arizona’s Sierra Tucson after a “scary” incident he described as a “complete break from reality.” “At that moment, I wouldn’t have been averse to not being around any longer. I called a friend and said, ‘I’m in a weird, dark place. I need to go somewhere and get help,'” Kevin said. The “Jay and Silent Bob” star thought he “completely lost” his mind when he awoke that aforementioned morning. “I lost my marbles and became very dissociative,” he said. In therapy, the actor realized how childhood trauma and sexual abuse directly led him to create an exaggerated version of himself, who he refers to as “the other guy.” Most movie watchers only know “the other guy.” “I was a passenger in my own life,” he says, recalling how affected he was when his elementary school teacher commented on his “gut.” “In the beginning, it was tough to share when somebody’s talking about watching their friend get killed and I’m like, ‘Well, my fourth-grade teacher told me I was fat,'” he said. “But I learned that there’s no differentiation [between levels of trauma] to the human nervous system. Internally, trauma is trauma.” Although Kevin was “terrified” to speak publicly about mental health, he knows it’s the right thing. “There’s somebody out there who doesn’t know this stuff — like I didn’t — who could get something out of this,” he said.

All the EGO

Adele is one Tony award away from being an EGOT winner, but she has no plans to add the “T” to her collection. “It’s never gonna happen,” she told James Corden. Why? “I would never write a musical or anything like that because I f****** hate musicals,” she revealed. “I f****** hate musicals. I don’t think I’ve ever said how much I f****** hate musicals.” The songstress said she “absolutely” respects those involved in musicals, but it’s just not for her.  “I just don’t need to hear everything in f****** song all the time,” she said before joking. “I also think the EGO suits me better.”

Mental health update

Things are getting better for Ezra. Over the past several years, Ezra Miller has had multiple run-ins with the law, but “The Flash” star is said to be doing “well.” “The Flash” director Andy Muschietti spoke of the actor while screening the newest superhero film, telling ET, “Ezra is well now.” Ezra, who uses the they/them pronouns, has been arrested for assault, charged with burglary, accused of harassment and was alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. “We’re all hoping that they get better… They’re taking the steps to recovery,” Andy said, per ET. “They’re dealing with mental health issues, but they’re well. We talked to them not too long ago, and they’re very committed to getting better.” Ezra admitted to suffering from “complex mental health” issues last year. “Ezra is an extraordinary actor. It’s probably… Not probably, it’s one of my best experiences working with an actor ever,” Andy said of directing Ezra. “They’re brilliant. Their contributions are constant. And also, they like to play and they like to do more takes than I do, which is a lot. They’re full of incredible emotions. They bring them to the set every time. And they’re an incredible comedian also, which is something that I wasn’t fully prepared for.”
