Kelly Clarkson performed an emotional cover of Demi Lovato‘s “Anyone” during the “Kellyoke” segment of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Wednesday, June 22.
Clarkson, who is usually backed by her band Y’all, was only accompanied by a solo piano player for the rendition of “Anyone.”
“Nobody’s listening to me, nobody’s listening,” she sang. “Anyone, please send me anyone/ Lord is there anyone?”
“Anyone” is the lead single from Lovato’s seventh studio album Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over. They performed it at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2020, their first performance since suffering a near-fatal drug overdose in July 2018.
In fact, “Anyone” was recorded just four days before the overdose occurred. The song was written by Lovato, Bibi Bourelly, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Jay Mooncie, Sam Roman, and its producer Dayyon Alexander.
The song debuted at Np. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Lovato’s first No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart.
