The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star collects $1 million in one minute following the launch of her new shapewear collection despite criticisms following tragedy at Travis Scott’s event.

AceShowbizKim Kardashian‘s new Skims line with Fendi has racked up $1 million (£740,000) in sales in one minute after its launch, but the star has been slammed online for the timing.

The collection debuted on Tuesday (09Nov21) and acccording to TMZ, items in the in-demand fashion collaboration are nearly sold out, including the $4,200 (£3100) leather dress Kim wore last week (ends05Nov21) to the Wall Street Journal Magazine’s 2021 Innovator Awards, where she was honoured for the shapewear brand she started in 2018.

More than 300,000 people signed up for the waitlist ahead of the line’s launch, which is on track to be the biggest first day for a SKIMS range, TMZ reports.

The collection, which includes separates, tights, bralettes, bodysuits, shoes, and gloves, “unites the luxury of Fendi with the innovation of SKIMS,” according a press release. It’s available at Fendiskims.com.

But the release had other fans in an uproar, calling the reality TV star “tone deaf” for going ahead with the launch just days after an uncontrolled crowd surge during Travis Scott’s Astroworld set left eight people dead and hundreds more injured.

“How tone deaf is it to keep marketing your product after someone from your family is responsible for causing death & injury to a huge crowd of people?” a Twitter user named Alyssa commented.

Scott is in a long-term relationship with Kim’s sister Kylie Jenner, and is facing multiple civil lawsuits in the wake of the deadly event in Houston, Texas on Friday (05Nov21).

On Monday, Kim defended Scott on Twitter, writing, “Absolutely heartbroken for the lives who were lost and anyone who was hurt at Astroworld. Just like all of you, our family is in shock by the tragedy.”

“We are keeping all of the victims, families and loved ones impacted in our prayers for healing – as well as Travis who we know cares so much about his fans and is truly devastated.”

A criminal investigation is being conducted to determine who is at fault.
