Kim Kardashian said privilege made it ‘harder’ to achieve her lavish lifestyle

Kim Kardashian speaks about financial troubles in interview

A resurfaced interview with Kim Kardashian from 2007 sees the mogul claim that her “privileged life” made it even harder for her to achieve her luxury lifestyle.

Her revelation came after sister Kourtney claimed in the same clip that their late father, Robert Kardashian Sr, had always encouraged them to get jobs and support themselves.

She explained that he told them all that they would be financially cut off when they graduated, and Kim chimed in with her thoughts.

“I just think that it’s actually probably harder we did grow up with this privileged life but knowing that at a certain age we’re gonna be cut off and we can’t ask our parents for anything,” she said.

“Already having that lifestyle growing up, we wanna maintain that.

“So it’s probably even harder for us, because a lot of people are doing nothing,” she continued in the Inside Edition interview which was filmed in advance of Keeping Up With the Kardashians hitting screens.

“And we were taught at a very young age that we’re gonna have to work, and we’re gonna have to fend for ourselves — and whatever lifestyle we want, we have to make that on our own,” she continued.

“We’ve all worked since we were about 16 years old,” she claimed.

However, some fans were not happy and took to social media to express their incredulity at the remarks.

Posting on Reddit Serenity_Moon_66 wrote: “They have no idea what it’s like to live in the real world. How many of us have parents who could land us a high paying job without experience? They were privileged and entitled in every way possible.”

@Dolphinsunset1007 was equally as outraged commenting: “Who told Kim that a lot of people are doing nothing…why does she think she’s the only person on the planet with a good work ethic.”

A user called @BuildingBrilliant724 was even more scathing. “I completely understand what they meant. It’s called rich people delusion,” they wrote.

“Not understanding that just bc you’re accustomed to a certain level of lifestyle doesn’t mean other more affordable lifestyles aren’t just as fulfilling.

“Can you live a comfortable life without 25 Hermes bags… of course. Do you think they have ever contemplated that, or even scaling back? No. Because they are delusional and live in a one dimensional world lol” (sic)

@atschinkel was even less amused: “You’re so right, Kim. I’m sure the children who go hungry because their parents can’t always afford to feed them definitely agree with you,” they wrote.

Meanwhile @baker1310 compared it to Kim’s infamous comments from last year saying: “This interview is giving ‘get your f****** ass up and work’ energy.”

They were referring to an interview the reality television star gave to Variety in which she was asked to share her tips for businesswomen.

She famously said: “Get your a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

Kim’s comments sparked a huge backlash, especially on Twitter. Piers Morgan also waded into the furore saying that her comments had a “laughable irony”.

A few fans did defend her however, including Miklaine who said: “She definitely was referring to other rich kids in Hollywood that have well-off parents and don’t have to do work to be rich whereas they were not in the same boat.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Kim’s representatives for comment.
