Kristen Bell is known to many fans around the world as a talented actress, singer, businesswoman, and entrepreneur. She always stays busy, with multiple projects and lots of acting roles.
Still, one of Bell’s busiest roles is that of mom. She and her husband, fellow actor and comedian Dax Shepard, are parents to two young girls, and while they prefer to keep their children out of the spotlight, Bell has opened up on several occasions about parenting, revealing tips, tricks, and strategies that she and Shepard have used as they raise their girls.
Kristen Bell is a versatile actress
Bell was born in 1980 and was drawn to the performing arts as a young child. In high school, Bell appeared in a number of theater productions, evidencing a flair for both singing and acting.
After she graduated from high school, Bell moved to New York City, where she continued to study musical theater. In 2001, Bell made her Broadway debut, acting in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
After a few years of acting in stage productions, Bell made the transition to a television career.
In 2004, she began appearing in the TV series Veronica Mars. With Bell in the lead role, playing the fictional girl detective, the show became a hit, launching a fandom that is still going strong. The show was Bell’s launchpad to greater stardom, leading to a variety of roles in both television and film.
Over the years, Bell has appeared in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Couples Retreat, Bad Moms, and You Again. She is perhaps best known (at least to the younger generation) for providing the voice of Princess Anna in the animated classic Frozen, as well as the film’s sequel, Frozen 2.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have two children
In 2007, Bell began dating comedian Dax Shepard. The two got engaged in 2010 and married in 2013. They have worked together on several projects, but their greatest collaboration to date is their two young daughters — Lincoln, born in 2013, and Delta, born in 2014.
When asked whether the couple would consider adding a third child to their brood, Bell admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that they are probably done for now. “No. No, no. We don’t want to be outnumbered,” Bell said. “Until, I suppose, I accidentally get pregnant and my third child watches this clip and realizes that he was an accident. Sorry, honey.”
Why would Kristen Bell lock her daughter in her room?
Bell has developed a reputation for being open and honest with her fans, especially in terms of parenting. She frequently talks about the struggles of parenting and the difficult moments. In 2018, Bell revealed that she and Shepard have had a hard time with their youngest daughter when it comes to sleeping through the night.
“Look, I’ll get controversial,” the actress admitted while on the red carpet, promoting her latest film. “My 3-year-old decided to stop sleeping about nine months ago. And every night, when we put her to bed, she turns the lights on, which annoys the 4-year-old, and she will move furniture, and she bangs on the door with different, hard toys. We switched the door knob. We turned the lock on the outside.”
Bell stated that while she doesn’t necessarily recommend every parent trying it out, it worked for their family. She revealed: “I’m sorry, I know that’s controversial, but we lock it when she gets in there, and we stand outside and say, ‘We love you, we will talk to you in the morning, but now, it’s time for sleep.’ And after about 10 minutes, she’ll wind herself down. And then, before we go to bed, obviously, we unlock it.”
