Laura Whitmore has expressed hopes of making the late Caroline Flack "proud" as Love Island returns to screens next week.

Caroline, who tragically took her own life at age 40 on February 15 2020, hosted the popular dating show from 2015 to 2019.

And 36 year old Laura, who took over presenting commitments last year, paid a gushing tribute to Caroline in a new post shared to her Instagram on Monday.

Hot on the heels of the final line-up finally being unveiled to the public, the Irish star wrote: "I think we're all ready for some love! Ahhhhhh! So excited to watch the new islanders."

"Hope you enjoy talking about them and following their journey and just a reminder to treat them with love, compassion and respect when they leave the show and go back to real life.

"Caroline I hope we do you proud. One week to go," Laura concluded the gushing post with a red heat emoji.

Alongside Laura's caption was a picture of herself in a white dress with a heart cut-out neckline posing in front of the tropical Love Island background.

After a year of being starved from fire pits, 'I've got a text', lots of cracking on and hot men walking around with their 10 packs on show, the hit ITV show Love Island is returning to our screens.

Laura will be once again joining forces with her voice over boyfriend Iain Stirling for this year's season of Love Island in Majorca.

The confirmed line-up includes former glamour model Shannon Singh, Northumberland labourer Brad McClelland, Essex fashion blogger Kaz Kamwi, Weston-Super-Mare water engineer Jake Cornish and Hampshire PE teacher Hugo Hammond.

Birmingham student Liberty Poole, luxury events host Aaron Francis and pageant queen Sharon Gaffka have also been confirmed for this year's line-up.

Proving it will be one of the raunchiest shows yet, contestant Shannon has revealed that she has sex up to "eight times a day".
