Liam Payne sends fans into a frenzy as he teases boxing match with Tommy Fury

Liam Payne has sent his fans into meltdown as he teased an upcoming boxing match with Tommy Fury.

The singer and former One Direction star, 29, who is not known to have any experience in the ring, hinted there will be a big announcement tomorrow on his Instagram page.

Along with just a simple eyes emoji in the caption, dad-of-one Liam, who shares son Bear with his ex-girlfriend Cheryl, shared a dramatic mocked-up poster.

The image showed Liam and Love Island star Tommy, 23, who is a professional boxer and the latest in the Fury legacy line, facing each other.

With grim expressions, it appeared an imminent battle could be on the cards.

As well as revealing the potential match will be taking place at the Old Trafford in Manchester, the poster read: "This summer. Announcement tomorrow."

Completely stunned by the news, fans went wild in the comments, and many demanded answers.

"LIAM WHAT WHY ARE YOU GONNA BOX W TOMMY," one person exclaimed.

Another follower wrote: "WHAT DID I OPEN INSTA TO."

"Dear lord…. Making an absolute mockery of boxing!" a third declared, as another fan replied that they shouldn't "worry" as the match is likely to be in aid of Soccer Aid instead.

"Laughable," a fourth posted, while another wrote: "It's not a boxing match. It's Soccer Aid at Old Trafford. Thank me later, sorry for ruining the hype."

Others were more concerned about Tommy's future in boxing, as there was much speculation about which route the budding athlete would take after his career-defining and much-anticipated fight against YouTube star Jake Paul.

"And this is going to make him a world champion?" one person questioned.

Soccer Aid 2023 already features a star-studded line-up including Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, Steven Bartlett and Vicky McClure, and is also taking place at the Old Trafford on June 11.

I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner and Lioness Jill Scott will be captaining the England team.

Fans will have to wait and see if Liam and Tommy's face-off is on the football pitch rather than in the ring.
